already done. instructed wife and kids to ignore knocks at the door and not talk to anyone we don’t know in the next few months who comes by the house.

I crossed out everything else and wrote “Decline to respond” on it.

My local news reported last night that if you do not answer questions on the census the government passed a law that makes you pay a $100 fine for every question not answered and $500 for each false answer - anybody know anything about this? Is it for real?

All I know is, researching my family history, I have really appreciated finding pages from the census where they listed their names, ages, occupation, whether they owned or rented, where their parents were born, and whether they could read. I don't mind providing that information, not for Obama's sake but for my future descendants.

Information more personal than that, hell no.

My census form says nothing about “mandatory, fine, or penalty” anywhere, therefore, answering one question shouldn’t be a problem. They can’t fine you without using any of the aforementioned wording. If the fines are true, there’s no mention of it, so.. ignorance is bliss.

Zero.

Are you so important that FedGov is going to make you the first person ever prosecuted?

You answering the census will not help your future generations unless everything burns down but the halls of government. Previous census recording were done on a localized version and that is where those records came from.

wonder how they are going to fill out the census forms at the local, phx area “drop houses”? they found upwards of 30 people at a house a couple days ago. too soon for the census to count all of them.

Democrats NEED to know how many potential NEW voters they're going to have to help prevent them from being voted out of office in November (and after this weekend, they'll begin to ram amnesty down our throats to accomplish just that).

To qualify for the visas, immigrants have to show they suffered a specific crime such as sexual assault or being forced to work without pay, and show they helped law enforcement in their investigation.

As I understand it, that's already started with Schumer and Lindsey Grahamnesty. I'm sure BO can't WAIT for some 30 million illegals to become citizens. What a total mess the country is in.

Well, didn't the census records go to Washington in prior censuses (censi?). Someone had to tabulate the results and come up with population figures. The main difference now is computers to sort the data, but the information itself is no more scary to give the government now than it was in 1790. Name, age, occupation, state of birth, birthplace of parents. If they gave it in 1790, and every decade since then (and they did) I don't mind giving it. I do mind giving the amount of my mortgage and my actual birthdate and info like that which the government does not need.

Also, they always have recorded the race of the person. It may have been considered important in an era when there were really only two races (except for a few Indians) and when there were lots of governmental policies that related to race. Now, racial distinctions should be eliminated by the government, not perpetuated. I think that statistic should not be collected.

What a total mess the country is in.

And what a perversion democrats have made of the Rule of Law, blatant disregard for the Constitution and Bill of Rights and doing the nation's business morally and ethically. Absolutely republicans have not been blameless in the past, but the damage inflicted by democrats in such determined and rapid pace makes their wrongs appear minute (almost invisible) in comparison. The past year with Obama in charge has been like an out-of-control roller coaster that is just about to leave the tracks and crash with all of us holding on for dear life.

The number of people in the household was to determine the number of legislators to send to D.C. Blacks didn’t count as whole people so they needed to know the race. Now they want to know the race so they can determine where to send the most tax dollars for the entitlement programs. I say we all should say we’re black. Then the money would be evenly shelled out.

The form I received has this statement on the last page:
Respondents are not required to respond to any information collection unless it displays a valid approval number from the office of Management and Budget

Only the first four questions (# of people, rented/owned, phone #) have an OMB number.

Because the people they really want to count are not in the IRS database. The welfare scum pay no taxes, but can be counted upon to vote for the Democrats and their welfare plantations that they have replaced our cities with.

2010 Census Constituent FAQs

13. What is the due date for returning the form?

Households should complete and mail back their forms upon receipt. Ideally, all forms will be returned by Census Day on April 1, 2010. Census workers will visit households that do not return forms to take a count in person.

28. Do I fill out the form if I’m moving out before April 1, 2010, or if the unit will be vacant on April 1, 2010?

No, please do not complete the form. The census counts people where they live on April 1, 2010; look for a form to be delivered to your new address.

It will go to a "Postal Recovery Center," (dead letter office,) be opened to find the senders address, and returned to sender for postage.

Actually you're advice is close to being good.
My 50 years of genealogy research is computerized now and copies are on zip drives, in my fire safe.
Assuming my ancestors a hundred years from now have climbed out of the dark ages we're imposing on them, them may be able to reinvent computers to read the data.
