Airport worker warned in scanner ogling claim

LONDON

Wed Mar 24, 2010 2:37pm EDT

LONDON (Reuters) - A security worker at London's Heathrow Airport has received a police warning and faces disciplinary action over claims he ogled a female colleague using a full-body scanner, officials said on Wednesday.

Oddly Enough

The 25-year-old worker made lewd comments after his colleague Jo Margetson, 29, mistakenly strayed into the scanner, which can see through clothes to produce an image of the body, the Sun newspaper reported.

The case is believed to be the first of its kind since the full-body scanners were rushed into service at a number of British airports in the wake of an attempt by a suspected Muslim extremist to blow up a plane bound for Detroit on December 25.

They are now being rolled out at airports across the world.

Implication:

1) Future terrist attack will be more likely to be carried out by Jihadi females.

2) If hand-held full-body see-through scanner is invented, it may well be barred by governments, but it will thrive in international black market. Major customers will include terrorist organization and crime syndicates. This would be better than usual pat-down search. It would be an irony if the device ends up helping those it is designed to defend against.

She “mistakenly strayed” into the scanner? The scanner that has been on the news in every corner of the world, somehow she didn’t realize what it was? Even for TSA help, that’s pretty dumb.

I dunno...I think these things could sell pretty well to some bars I’ve been in.

Something like this was bound to happen. Guys have had that “see Through Glasses” and “I wish I was invisible” craving since time began.

She mistakenly strayed into the full-body scanner? They’re rather large and noticeable.

“...his colleague Jo Margetson, 29, mistakenly strayed into the scanner,...”

She mistakenly (it is alleged) strayed into the scanner but she’s the victim?

I wonder what the lewd comments were.

Bar bouncers would become a sought-after job.:-) Literally hundreds of girls would pass through bar's entrance every night.

This has nothing to do with the scanner. Suppose the woman had had a “wardrobe malfunction” that revealed her breast. Would the “observer” be punished for making lewd comments?

“I wish I was invisible” craving

Can't deny it. I'd mess with sporting events, and probably that other thing too.

New directive: Security workers, cover your eyes while people pass through the scanner.

The average jihadist must be laughing his arse off.

10's of billions spent on new bureaucracies, etc. when all that is necessary is seal the borders/profile/deport/(F the ACLU)...and if something still happens...mass deportation and a moratorium on immigration (not to mention reparations)from the perp(s) country(s)of origin.

Instead we get a dysfunctional transportation system, a gov. "security" spending black hole, and a cattle prod up our ...hole.

....from the Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.

Home of the Brave

These days, bravery means the audacity to defy reality and good sense: pushing global warming despite fatal flaws, piling up another trillion of debt in spite of trillions of debt, and taking a huge risk with appeasing terrorists.
