Repeal: Some say trying to repeal ObamaCare is a futile dream once people get used to its benefits, such as covering kids with pre-existing conditions. Once before, government was slapped down. It can be done.
Entitlements can be addictive, and it's certainly the purpose of this administration to make as many Americans as possible as dependent on government as possible.
That's partly why a health care bill put student loans under the Department of Education. The government needed the revenues, but it also needed the power over yet another class of citizens.
Unlike Medicare and Social Security, this nationalization of one-sixth of the U.S. economy and placing of bureaucrats and IRS agents between you and your doctor was unpopular from the beginning.
As John R. Graham, director of Health Care Studies at the Pacific Research Institute, reminds us, the 1965 Medicare and Medicaid amendments to the Social Security Act of 1935 enjoyed greater than 70% majorities in each congressional chamber. Social Security also passed with majorities of both parties in both chambers.
Not so with this bill.
Once before there were "angry mobs" reacting to government expansion of and into health care. They once greeted former House Ways and Means Chairman Dan Rostenkowski over the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988, which expanded Medicare benefits and funded it with a supplemental tax.

I don’t want it repealed, I want it struck down as unConstitutional, never to be heard from again.
I have been thinking along similar lines. The spending is not for another four years. Let’s say for argument Obama wins in 2012 worst case. It’s is still up to that future congress to fund it. This two year group of congress democrats, many wont be here, cant fund it or any other program in the future now. Next is mandates. The future congress if not sooner can send Obama a bill removing mandates , assuming they even hold up in court. What if Obama vetos that? Then he acts out against voters and Republicans can run on that. Most likely the Senate filibusters the removal to hide it from public. Then add it to unemployment benefits.
The weak link in my plan ?? Elected republicans! Count on them to spend if they get power again.
While parts may be ultimately declared unconstitutional, the problem is that the SC is EXTREMELY unlikely to slap down all of it. We are still stuck with dozens of new agencies who have nothing better to do than to try to regulate every single area of our lives.
We still have to pay in premiums? What do you do about those? That’s the idea. Take our money.
Remember no matter what Obama or others say; he was really not elected. He was selected.
Are you talking about the personal mandate to be insured ? I was proposing fighting that given it's unpopularity. But realistically the fines are a joke. Pay the small fine then sign up for health insurance after you get sick.
The taxes can be repealed if Republicans can make an economic case for them.
Have hope! Freedom is worth fighting for!
If the mandate part is gutted, we now have bureaucracies all dressed up with nowhere to go.
You're so optimistic today! Must be Friday.
And wasting money. Which is why the next Congress should make sure that not one penny is allotted to Obamacare.
I never was much for “this is the end of the world” stuff. As long as it stays unpopular it can be undermined before it goes into effect. I still think Republicans gave democrats one hell of a beating, in spite of democrats gloating for four nights.
Jay Leno made a great joke but I cant repeat it.
I hear Obama wants to next move on Bank Reform and No Child to lure some Republicans (at least RINOs) to support him. The bank reform would include those new 'bailout' taxes we talked about late last year.
