FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- The man who hopes to wrest the Republican nomination away from four-term Arizona Sen. John McCain blasted the 2008 presidential candidate for his positions on immigration and border security at a Tea Party rally here on Sunday.
Former Congressman J.D. Hayworth, who has emerged as a formidable primary challenger to McCain, seized on amnesty for illegal immigrants and border control, which have become defining issues in the state's GOP Senate primary race.
"It is unconscionable that nearly a decade after 9/11 the backdoor of the United States remains open," Hayworth told hundreds of Tea Party members gathered at the Radisson Hotel in Flagstaff. "Our senior senator is looking at this entirely the wrong way."
Citing escalating drug violence along the U.S.-Mexico border and the murder of an Arizona rancher found shot to death on his Cochise County property on Saturday, Hayworth said, "It's not only a matter of national security, it's a matter of personal security."

John McCain, just retire quietly and do it NOW.
I fully understand why Sarah Palin is stumping for McLame.
I fully support J.D. Hayworth, none the less.
I’ll still support Sarah anyway.
Rob Krentz' death is directly attributable to the weakness at the border that John McCain has worked to maintain.
He should be held accountable by being fired from the job he considers his entitlement.
I hope FReepers will financially support J.D. Hayworth.
In spite of Palin’s very best efforts to make sure that the more conservative candidate does NOT get elected, I feel great about JD’s chances.
WOW...finally Fox News stops shilling for Liberal RINO McBama....nice article for JD....and of course, JD is 1000000% accurate on McBama and the worsening situation on the border.
JD For Senate Go JD Go
Anyone heard from McCain about the murder of a US citizen rancher by his precious illegal aliens ?????

Did you even watch her campaign appearance with Juan and Cindy? The people were there to see Sarah, not Juan. Cindy looked like she was chewing on a green persimmon.
That was not so much support of McCain's campaign, as it was a wake for it.
Sarah explained on Greta afterward that should JD Hayworth win the primary, she will fully support him in the general election.
McCain is kaput. Everybody has known it for months. Now Juan and Cindy know it. And now maybe they can put a muzzle on their despicable daughter.
Up until Palin made the decision to throw support (after support, after support) to McCain there was not a bigger support of her’s than me. I really feel like this latest stunt though has hurt her fairly significantly as it makes her look like a petty politician. Bottom line is that she has some work to do to win me (and people like me) back.
I donated to JD and will donate more.
We may lose our country due to what McCain-Feingold did to put the Dems in power. McCain has undermined this country far more than anyone realizes. The Dems love “maverick” because he is their Trojan Burro.
Ill still support Sarah anyway.
I wholeheartedly agree. I, too, am glad Sarah is supporting John McCain and Rand Paul.
I’m with you, brother!
I’m with you. There are bigger things - large and in charge - where our energies need to be focused at this time.
The most conservative AZ candidate was not a candidate at the time she made her choice.

I can assure you that whoever was going to face McCain in the primary would in fact be the MOST conservative candidate. The is not a single person with a brain who wouldn’t have known that either.
Bottom line is that she made a decision to cheerlead for a pro-amnesty, pro-global warming, pro-campaign finance reform candidate and there is no amount of shoulda’s, coulda’s , or woulda’s that changes that. Sorry...
I Like Mrs Palin, but to say you are happy she is supporting McCain and Paul make your screen name pretty odd.
People who like Palin and will consider her in the 2012 race are being branded Paulistas.
Are you a Paulista?
