Sen. Tom Coburn, a staunch conservative from Oklahoma, is doing what seems almost unthinkable in this polarized political climate: Defending his Democratic colleagues from critics at Fox News.
At a town hall meeting, Coburn suggested that a woman who said "they can put us in prison" for not obtaining health insurance under the health care reform bill is misinformed.
"The intention is not to put anybody in jail," he said. "That makes for good TV news on Fox but that isn't the intention."
He also defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the architect of the House version of the health care legislation that he fiercely opposed.
"I'm 180 degrees in opposition to the speaker -- she's a nice lady," he said. The crowd could be heard responding unfavorably to his characterization.
"Come on now, she is a nice -- how many of you all have met her?" continued Coburn. "She's a nice person. She's a nice person."

Response: The mere fact she has proper relations with her family and is kind to her dog does not render her fit to govern. She has to go, which is tragically unlikey, but she has to go.

LOL .... No, actually, that’s exactly what I think he did. He kept his eye on the ball. It doesn’t matter if Pelosi is a snake or not. It doesn’t matter to me and it sounds like it doesn’t matter to Coburn.
However, Pelosi is WRONG.... and THAT matters. (Both to me and Coburn. He, like, said so.)
We sent him there to deal with the law on our hehalf and to shoot straight with us. That’s it ... not to deal with personalitiies or to “become one, himself”, not to deal with rumors or hype in the press, not to cash in or bask in the limelight, or anything else.
Like I said: He’ll have that job for as long as he wants it.
You other states can provide the cheerleaders, if ya feel that ya need ‘em. We’ll send ya some solid players. :)

LOL .... okay, good point. The NYTimes isn’t where I’d go. But, you have to admit that you’d get a better look at the Big Picture if you hit a few different places.
But, then, you are talking to a recovering “News Junky” and, nowadays, I’m more of a “CNBC kind of guy” from 6am ‘til 5pm.... (when I’m not out oilpatching and destroying the environment). After 5pm, Cable News is a wasteland, imo, ..er... unless Brit Hume or that Krauthammer guy are talking.
As an Arkansan, I have been envious of your representation for many years.
He seems pretty conservative to me. He simply is advocating for listening to more than one news source. He also doesn’t think it’s good to demonize the other side. Maybe you can listen to the whole broadcast and tell me what you think.
Some people refuse to open their eyes to how bad some in government are and Coburn appears to be one of them.

Pelosi and her husband have taken fraudulant advantage of her elected position. As I recall, he was even found guility. On top of that she wants to kill the Constitution and make America Marxist.
Apparently you don’t believe that amounts to an attack on America and deserves to be responded to in kind. This woman, or her mouthpieces, call me a Nazi. Did you ever hear of the Golden Rule, Titus? You know how it goes: “Treat other people as you wish to be treated”. If you can, think about that. If Pelosi is employing the Golden Rule than those who treat her in kind are doing exactly as she wishes. Why, exactly, do you have a problem with that?
