Sarah Palin: "I support Michael Steele ... I think he's doing a great job. Michael Steele is an outsider. The machine, I think, is tough to penetrate -- I think it's been good to have an independent outsider trying to create some change in the Republican Party."

She is being turned. Not the next Reagan, then.

LOL. Reagan...best POTUS we'll have in our lifetimes...hand-picked as his successor a blue-blood, tax-and-spend, northeastern Rockefeller Republican! Hello?!?!

What you people are really saying is that Palin is not the next Barry Goldwater!

As if conservatism needed another such devastating trouncing as Goldwater got us!

Reagan was no Goldwater. Neither is Palin. So what? It's not clear that the Palin haters would support Reagan in 2012 either.

This only puts her in a poor light for those who can’t grasp the concept of real politics. You cannot become president by being an ideologue (unless you are Obama and lie your way to the White House)and burning bridges that you will need to use in the future. That’s why she will campaign for McCain, Michelle Bachman and not trash Micheal Steele. Did you ever think that, maybe, she is using the Reagan philosophy of not speaking ill of a fellow Republican? Reagan was able to unite the party, he didn’t trash it and Palin is using his playbook.

So she's not dissing Michael Steele...

There is a world of difference between not dissing and verbally praising. One is passive and ambiguous. The other (the road she took) is active and certain.

Reagan was EXTREMELY critical of Ford in the 76 primary. people seem to forget that as well.

I’m sure Sarah Palin has no desire to start a public food fight with the RNC. She’s doing what she does best, articulating the conservative message, and the numbers of folks who come out to see her speak to the power she has to transform the GOP.

*****************************

I like your take on it. I shall try adopt it for now.

Screw them all, starting with Hannity.

Contemptible.

I no longer lust after Palin having seen that.

Dang.

Is there really anyone here who thinks there is a perfect candidate, including her?

How about naming someone better (or telling us who you want) before you cast stones at her supporters?

She supports McCain because he helped raise her to national prominence and she is grateful. To do otherwise would, I believe, be a negative to her character.

She supports Steele for similar reasons. Reagan was also gracious to fellow Republicans with whom he was not in 100% agreement.

I think it is wiser to become part of an organization that has lost it’s way in order to guide it back as opposed to rejecting that organization, marginalizing yourself, splitting the right, and ensuring future Democrat victories.

What do you expect her to say in public? What she says in private is important. And who would be better?

You know some of you remind me of that refrigerator magnet. “Don't explain, your friends don't need it and your enemies won't listen anyways”

Reagan was FORCED to accept that bastard Bush I as his running mate by the party bosses. He accepted him unwillingly.

Sarah Palin is NOT Presidential Material - she has made far too many misjudgements. Sorry.

Sorry she really is clueless on the core issues surrounding conservatives this year.

I was a huge Palin supporter in the beginning but as time wears on she just doesn’t have the ethics and principles I think we should demand in the people that are wasting (ah er I mean spending) our money.

Her continued support for McCain really showed a huge crack in her principles.

Now support for Steele...

She is trying to cater to old-money corrupt GOP and the progressives in the GOP.

What a shame and unfortunately what a waste of time for all of us.

Since you decided to include me on your hit list I'll respond...

I do not hate palin. I do not think she is qualified to be POTUS. I do not think that she can win the seventy million votes needed to get the job.

I think that the dems/left/media would have a field day campaigning against the quitter (keeping in the RWR vein..."Win one for the quitter" or "Quit one for the Gipper"). I believe that her resignation was damned stupid politically.

I was too young to vote for Goldwater and not yet really interested in politics.

I voted for RWR every chance I had and would do so again in today's climate if it were possible.

“Reagan was not one to attack fellow Republicans”

Would this be the Reagan who ran against a sitting Republican President (Ford), and refused to quit the primary even when it became obvious he wouldn’t get the votes?

“Ford reluctantly agreed to run for office in 1976, but first he had to counter a challenge for the Republican party nomination. Then-former Governor of California Ronald Reagan and the party’s conservative wing faulted Ford for failing to do more in South Vietnam, for signing the Helsinki Accords and for negotiating to cede the Panama Canal (negotiations for the canal continued under President Carter, who eventually signed the Torrijos-Carter Treaties). Reagan launched his campaign in autumn of 1975 and won several primaries before withdrawing from the race at the Republican Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. The conservative insurgency convinced Ford to drop the more liberal Vice President Nelson Rockefeller in favor of Kansas Senator Bob Dole.[112]”

This ‘Reagan wouldn’t speak bad of fellow Republicans’ is simply a crock. The folks attacking Steele are NOT doing it on personal issues, but policy & management issues. And Palin is siding with the GOP establishment, first with McCain & now with Steele. I don’t think she will run in 2012, and if she does, I no longer think she will win the nomination.

Too much charisma, too little principle & thought!

LOL! Try to show us some proof that Reagan didn't choose George HW Bush on his own. Heck, in 76 he chose someone far more to the left in Lowell Weicker, why wouldn't he choose the more moderate Bush?.

Your comments simply aren't true and make no sense.

What do you expect her to say in public?

_____________________________________

I expect her to say what she really thinks. What do you expect? What she says in private is meaningless to the electorate.

And, why are you suggesting that she says one thing to us but another when we can't hear?

Palin haters

So, is someone a "Palin hater" if they simply don't think she's the best choice, and support someone else in 2012?
