Possibly he should have mentioned this fact:

1860 presidential election

The divisions became fully exposed with the 1860 presidential election. The electorate split four ways. The Southern Democrats endorsed slavery, while the Republicans denounced it. The Northern Democrats said democracy required the people to decide on slavery locally.

Read between the lines, people. Barry brought this up for one of two reasons:

1) His poll numbers are horrendous...look inside the numbers of the recent fox poll...he is underwater on every major issue...43% approval in fox is actually *high* considering his pathetic approval ratings on individual issues...He needs a new issue, and he is going with race.

2) His handlers fear Virginia’s successful business man/ military veteran governor. They are trying to taint him now...McDonnel is the real deal and could make a serious run in 12. He has been flying under the radar so far.

On Wednesday he apologized

That was the mistake. Never apologize to the Left...It only adds fuel to their ire.

... said Obama, the nation's first black president.

Well that's halfway correct unless they know something I don't.

Gov. McDonnell: “Thank you for your opinion, Mr. President. Now, go back to doing what you do best: destroying these United States.”

First lady Michelle Obama is descended from a South Carolina slave.

Yeah, and her flop-eared Nazi Socialist husband is decended from a slave-catching/slave-selling tribe in Kenya. If they want to bring in history bring it all in. FUBO

Why? Obama covers-up his hatred of whites and Jews.

I thought BO was over in Europe bringing peace and harmony among our allies.

I didn’t know BO had time to think about the proclamations of a historical matter from state governors.

Nice to know he is using his time so wisely.

It shouldn’t be left out of any history of the Democrat Party either.

I don’t seem to recall any mention of the disproportionately high welfare and crime rates

during “Black History Month”.

Is THAT an “unacceptable omission”?

The divisions became fully exposed with the 1860 presidential election. The electorate split four ways. The Southern Democrats endorsed slavery, while the Republicans denounced it. The Northern Democrats said democracy required the people to decide on slavery locally.

And the Constitutional Union Party whined, "Can't we all just get along?"

Hey, they took three states, iirc.

Islam and slavery?

Do a study and you will learn that the slavers were largely Islamic. African slaving was a huge industry making some tribal chiefs very large and wealthy. Most of the traders were muslim and America got into the trade after the muslims had been running it for a thousand years or more. The Americans got in, and got out, and the islamics still continued.... to today in some areas.Europeans were into it and dropped it after America. Its just that America took a wrap... a global wrap.

McDonnell needs to go on the serious offensive and state that he consciously avoided the slavery issue to avoid embarassing the democrat party, but now that it's been brought up he's going to formally apologize on their behalf not only for slavery but for their complicity in the entire Jim Crow legacy.
