7.1 Quake hits Solomon Islands

ADELAIDE, Australia — A powerful earthquake struck off the Solomon Islands on Sunday, but a monitoring agency said a tsunami was not expected.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 7.1-magnitude quake hit southwest of the island chain's Kira Kira island in the South Pacific. The temblor's epicenter was about 130 miles (210 kilometers) southeast of the capital, Honiara.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says a destructive wave is not expected. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

So your argument is the communication angle. So in the past 3-5 years there has been so many new communication centers put in we are hearing about more? Who put more in? Who paid for them...where else have they been installed?

I had 4 uncles who fought in the Solomon’s and the Pacific during WW2, one was KIA in the Solomon’s. Besides the one uncles death the thing they talked about the most was the very strong earthquakes throughout the region...

I'm not sure the relevance of your post to my previous post and that maybe my fault so I'll rephrase. The Pacific plate has been constantly moving for decades in not centuries.

The relevance is only that you posted the same thing as I had a few posts earlier than you. #11 was directed at me, but could just as well have been to you.
