NRCC co-chairman predicts Republicans will gain 56 seats

NEW ORLEANS – A top House Republican campaigner says his party is set to gain more seats than it won in the 1994 election.

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) told the Ballot Box that he has pegged the GOP gains in this year’s election at 56 seats, which would be more than the 54 it won in its landslide election 16 years ago. It would also be more than enough to regain the majority the party lost in 2006 (which requires a 40-seat gain).

“I’ve got us at 56 seats right now,” said Price, who is chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee and also co-chairs the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) candidate mentoring program. “And I think it’s only going to rise, because of the policies that this administration has put in place and the activities of the speaker.”

Price added that Republicans are now competitive in more than 100 districts – 104, to be exact.

Republicans like top NRCC recruiter Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) have said before that Republicans will be competitive in nearly 100 districts, but party officials are generally loath to put specific numbers on expected gains or losses.

Price qualified his prediction by saying “I’m the most optimistic guy in the room.”

But we need to not just stop at Congress. In races for Statehouse, Governors, Mayors ... dogcatchers ... Anyone with a “D” needs to be radioactive and swept from office.

Preach it from the mountain tops...I have been saying this for months...sweep them ALL from office wherever possible at ALL levels.

I agree with you. We can not let up for one second. We must get every vote on our side out to the polls in November. I do not want to see the Democrat Party defeated, I want to see the Democrat Party torn into shreds by the American voters. Destruction of the Democrat Party should be our goal!!!

I sure hope Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-#1) goes down in flames. What a disaster she’s been.

“Doesn’t mean squat unless they have an established agenda for specific changes and enough votes in the Senate. Newt gave us the Contract for America. I sat glued to CSPAN watching the House vote in the changes on property rights protections. Then the legislation simply died in the Senate. With Obama in the White House, they will also need enough votes to over-ride a veto. The best they can probably do until 2012 is neuter the progressive’s agenda in Congress, although Obama will push the envelope on implementing his plans through the federal agencies.”

Correct. I thought “Contract for America” was a brilliant idea—and it hasn’t been repeated, much to my surprise and dismay. I propose:

1. Repeal Obamacare.
2. Balance budget by cutting Federal salaries, freezing Federal employment, and Federal spending.
3. Creation of an permanent independent prosecutor to investigate all Congressional and Executive crimes.

“.......
2. Balance budget by cutting Federal salaries, freezing Federal employment, and Federal spending.
..............”

Doing that won’t even come close to balancing the budget.
The problem is entitlement programs, discretionary spending meaning money that defends the country, funds law enforcement, etc. is an ever decreasing part of the budget.
For example social security is 21%, medicare-medicaid-&-SCHIP 21%, interest on the debt 9% there’s 51% of the budget for entitlements! Add another 9% for “safety net programs” and all of this is before Zeros massive new health care entitlement kicks in. All the entitlements programs have to be paid first! Defense & security (Intel) is another 22%, salaries (basically running the government) is around 18%
Yes there are too many federal employees but they are not really the problem.

Would prefer NO Predictions!

Expect anything; and be prepared for it. Count on Repub Victory; but keep the rhetoric 'down'. . .in this case; think saying nothing is more powerful.

As always, winning isn’t enough. We need more than “Throw the bums out!” as a scheme.

We need to put alternatives in place that take care of the concerns of the public, but do not lead us down the path of governmental control.

There must be a vision to follow.

Our choice: Do we avoid pain? or do we approach pleasure?

In politics, running from pain will only lead us to more pain. We must have the pleasure of a workable policy, written down for the people to see, i sufficient time for them to debate it for real, instead of the vague discussion of the penumbras eminating from “The One’s” Head.

Seems to be inline with Nate Silver’s (Dem) predictions at FiveThirtyEight.com. He’s predicting that Dems could lose 50+ seats in the House, maybe even as many as 79!

I predict the Republicans will get their asses handed to them on a platter in November 2010 and we will head even more rapidly into irretractable Marxism-Leninism as an economi nation and as a social system.

Provided:

a) they stay RINO and run as me-too, polite Moderates; and b) take the attitude such as in this article that they are going to "predict" (sic) a "gain" (sic) of "56" (sic) seats. This is all up to GOD, and comes down to our resolve and humbleness, and also hours and hours of shoe leather being worn out by troops on the ground, many of them by average people NEVER BEFORE involved in precinct politics before, coming in from the masses of the Tea Party and under a drafted Compact by the NEW Republican Party that commits it to killing once and for all "Compasssionate Conservatism", and returning to Ronald Reagan and TRUE CONSERVATISM.

Seven months is a long, long way way, and the Democrats are going to CREAM US at the POLLS if these warnings are not heeded and this self-assured, arrogant, boastful, pride-filled, overassured smug talk continues. We had better run like we are in for a whipping by Obama even worse than he gave us in 2008.

I'd like to see a sunset law applied to every federal register regulation published by an executive branch department. If, after 2 or 3 years, it does not pass congress, it's gone. The clock starts on previously published regulations as soon as the sunset law passes.

It all depends on the laziness of the obamatrons. This next election, there should be fewer of these losers voting, so there is a chance to take a good many seats, but again, pie in the sky for 40-60 seats.

We have to put the Kibosh on all the crap they will try to rush through before we throw them out. This is blatant government vs. the people.

WHAT CAN WE DO??? What can we do if they push through Amnesty and other items on their Socialist Agenda like they did Obama's Health Care? What can we do?
I feel so helpless; I'm down for a friggin' Revolution.

It’s much better to yell about gaining 100 seats than to whisper about “maybe gaining 25 - if that’s okay with you mister media.”

Tom Price is a good man. Pete Sessions, on the other hand, is an idiot.

But Steele said a few months ago that we can’t win.

OK....now were up to two idiots!
