My husband and I attended last night's event. It was sooo much fun! Is a debate supposed to be fun??

The first hour was the Gubernatorial Debate: Brian Sandovol - Governor Jim Gibbons and Mike Montandon.

Sandovol crashed and burned big time. It was especially funny when he dramatically pulled out a pocket-sized constitution from his jacket pocket and said something about always having it on hand. The thing looked brand spankin' new - we were in the front row. Then he says, "This - and holds up the book - is the document that guarantees us all the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness". Hello, dude, if you are going to quote the Constitution you might want to quote the Constitution - not the Declaration of Independence. . .

The US Senate debate was really good too but hard to follow as there were 6 candidates on the stage. Danny started slow but really picked it up and finished strong.

It just came out from the event coordinator that "one of" the Senate candidates had an earpiece and was getting help from someone sitting on the patio outside. It had to be either Sue Lowden or Sharron Angle as the guys all had short hair and the piece would have been noticible. Sharron is a bit "not right" in the head but she knows her stuff. . .so, that leaves only one name.

Cool, glad you and your husband were able to attend the debate, and thanks for the report.

It's nice to see the candidates and see how they preform in front of real citizens

You want to expand on your remark about Angle?

My husband and I have been very involved in the Tarkanian campaign and when Danny is in our area we travel with him and help out. We also attend events with him also to help. Because of this we have had close contact with all of the candidates. For the most part all of the candidates are very nice people. . .with a couple exceptions.

We were at the Lincoln Day Dinner for Douglas County and happened to be at the same table as Sharron, her husband and her campaign "dude". Our "group" was myself, my husband, Danny, his wife Amy and their baby. Even if Sharron didn't know prior to this event that we were working with TeamTark - she would have it figured out just by our interactions.

Toward the end of the dinner Danny and Amy had to leave before we could as her something. Knowing all the candidates traveled in the same circle we decided to ask Sharron. We went over and asked her if she knew where Mark Amodei (another US Senage Candidate) had been as we hadn't seen him at the last couple events. Well - that was all Sharron needed. . .she was off and running:

"Mark isn't a real candidate" - "Mark is nothing but an entertainer" - "Mark's Lazy". . . we were a bit shocked by her reaction as we had met and spoken to Mark and didn't get that at all but. . .OK. Then she continued: She personally proceeded to skewer the other candidates. First she attacked Sue - "Nothing but a washed up beauty queen" - "former newscaster looking for something more" - etc. Now - being a Tark supporter I agreed but she is running for US Senate. She shouldn't be talking like this in public.

Moving along she started in on Danny - again knowing full well we are on his team. When we corrected her on certain things she patted me on the arm and said "I'm politicking you". ??? I told her that my idea of "politicking" is to debate the issues - not personally attack. She just gave that phony smile of hers and said again that she was "politicking".

Later on - when relating this to others who are in the same arena - I was told that while Sharron is very Conservative she is also a "loose cannon". I wrote Sharron a letter and related our meeting and told her that I thought I deserved an apology. Haven't heard a thing - not even when I ran into her at the debate. . .
