GOP SC First District Candidates [FREEPER JENERETTE] Blast Kennedy Shrine

"I don’t know of any taxpayer-paid shrine or mausoleum to any politician in Massachusetts or South Carolina
that can stop an RPG or IED or an AK-47 round in Iraq or Afghanistan,” said Jenerette, a veteran of the Persian
Gulf War and a former U.S. Congressional Aide.

By FITSNews South Carolina || Our two favorite candidates in the crowded race to replace U.S. Rep. Henry Brown (RINO-Hanahan) have teamed up to criticize a particularly egregious example of Washington’s failure to prioritize spending.

Military mom/ Tea Party activist Katherine Jenerette and S.C. Rep. Tim Scott issued a joint press release on Thursday “decrying the federal government’s decision to siphon millions of dollars away from the Department of Defense budget to erect a monument to Ted Kennedy in Boston, Massachusetts.”

“I don’t know of any taxpayer-paid shrine or mausoleum to any politician in Massachusetts or South Carolina that can stop an RPG or IED or an AK-47 round in Iraq or Afghanistan,” said Jenerette, a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and a former U.S. Congressional Aide. “But if that $20 million can help save one single American soldier’s life downrange in Iraq or Afghanistan, it’s worth it to keep it in the U.S. Defense Department budget and not siphon it off for the Sainthood of Ted Kennedy or anyone else.”

The Kennedy shrine has already received $38.3 million in tax dollars – and is in line to receive another $30 million or more if U.S. Rep. Edward J. Markey and U.S. Sen. John Kerry have their way.  Of particular interest is the fact that at least $19 million of the project’s public funding has come from money taken out of the U.S. Department of Defense budget.  Supporters of the shrine have argued in favor of transferring the money, saying that the facility will offer educational programs that are “geared for children of active military personnel.”

Scott wasn’t buying that excuse, saying America’s “magnificent military” was already “stretched thin,” specifically citing a recent Pentagon request for an additional $33 billion to prosecute wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“Wasting tax dollars is bad enough, but weakening our military in the process is absolutely inexcusable,” Scott said. “When the people of this country told Congress that it was time to start prioritizing spending – this is just the opposite of what they had in mind.”

“On matters like this Tim Scott and I see eye-to-eye,” Jenerette said. “We already know Washington D.C. is full of political con-artists who can pull money out of one taxpayer’s pocket and stick it into another pocket without blinking an eye; so anytime we can highlight examples of ‘Pork-Gone-Wild’ in Congress I’ll be glad to work with Tim or any other member of our legislative delegation.”

In addition to Scott and Jenerette, another seven candidates are currently seeking the GOP nomination.

The Kennedys have enough money as it is. They can afford to pay for their own damned shrine.

From Wikipedia:

Kennedy enlisted in the United States Army in June 1951 (signing up for an optional four-year term, which was shortened to the minimum two years after his father intervened). Following basic training at Fort Dix, he requested assignment to Fort Holabird for Army Intelligence training, but was dropped after a few weeks without explanation. He went to Camp Gordon for training in the Military Police Corps. In June 1952, Kennedy was assigned to the honor guard at SHAPE headquarters in Paris. His father’s political connections ensured he was not deployed to the ongoing Korean War. While stationed in Europe he travelled extensively on weekends and climbed the Matterhorn. He was discharged in March 1953 as a private first class.

Had a push poll call Sunday. They only gave me five candidates to choose from in this race and they didn’t give your name as a choice. It was only five names ( Thurmond, Campbell, etc. ). Sorry but I had to check later to see if you were still running. I’ll get the word out to everyone who can vote in the race that you are the best choice.
