Groups Fear Reid Might Push Hastily Written Reform Bill
Congress Daily ^ | 042310 | Chris Srohm

Concerns are mounting that Senate Majority Leader Reid might try to advance a hastily drafted immigration reform bill to satisfy demands that legislation is introduced by May 1.

Sources said such a move would be disruptive to business and labor groups, which resumed delicate negotiations Wednesday to find compromises on several issues, including how to bring workers into the country to meet labor needs.

Talks had broken down last month but resumed in hopes of producing a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would be introduced by Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

Reid and congressional Democratic leaders are under escalating pressure from grassroots Latino and pro-immigration groups to introduce legislation by next weekend or face repercussions, including mass demonstrations, civil disobedience and diminished support at the ballot box in November.

Sources familiar with the talks doubt a bill will be ready by then, as Schumer and Graham have yet to circulate firm legislative language.

17% U6 UNEMPLOYMENT AND THEY ARE NEGOTIATING HOW TO BRING WORKERS INTO THE COUNTRY TO MEET “LABOR NEEDS?”

I can’t take it anymore. I can’t take this lobotomized media, I can’t take the 40% of the country who don’t have two brain cells to rub together to figure out how they aren’t even TRYING to con you anymore. I can’t believe that enough people are like us at Free Republic to make this country what we THOUGHT it was all these years.

I really don’t want to, I don’t even know where to go. But I know I’m too exhausted to watch this go on much longer. Maybe some little jungle island... I just don’t even know anymore. The insanity is maddening.

Every time congress trots out “comprehensive Immagration Reform”, it is based on amnesty with everything else being window dressing.

This latest version has a biometric ID (SS card?) without which, nobody can work. What they neglect to tell you is that it won’t stop people working for cash nor will it apply to smugglers, gangsters and other assorted criminals.

That's what they say but what they mean is bringing "voters" into the country to meet the needs of liberal politicians.

Yes, it is a bit frustrating experiencing the lack of media attention on this political idiocy via media idiocy.

Reid knows he’s about to be defeated; in fact, the Democrats in general know we the people are not too happy with them right about now. So they are going to try to shove as much of the socialist agenda down our throats as they can before November. If it isn’t going to be illegal immigration, it will be card check, cap and tax or something.

It appears that Lady Grahamnesty has not learned or listened to any of his constituents about the amnesty issue.

They will pander to a racist minority, at the expense of honest Americans. Stupid politics.

Let the Hispano-Racists riot...and if they do not like the laws of this country...Leave. I am tired of Hispano-Racist groups calling me a “racist” because I want our nation’s laws enforced

Anything that does not deport Illegal Aliens, is AMNESTY.

All bills have been poorly written. Yes! Reid will push dozens of bills through ... amnesty, finance reform, cap & trade and many more. The Dems will attempt to complete the Presidents agenda prior to the November elections no matter what the cost, to them or the country. Article 1 (The Legislative Branch), Section 7 (Revenue Bills, Legislative Process, Presidential Veto) of the US Constitution says: "All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; ..."

But that doesn't seem to stop the Senate when writing bills and passing them before the House takes them up. Reid will run roughshod over the Senate for the next 7 months. Saying one thing and doing something else. Calling everyone else names and point fingers at others alleged wrong doings.

Democrats (and Light in the loafers Lindsey) are contemplating inviting an invading army into America for the primary purpose of illegally changing our constitutional Republic into an obscene fascist/communist dictatorship.

This is treason. It’s time to call it that.

It may well be that some kind of National ID is worth at least considering in this context.

However, under no circumstance do I want an Obama administration implementing such a system. They are pushing this for reasons which have nothing to do with employee verification.

“Reid knows he’s about to be defeated”

I think there’s a reason Reid and crew have been bold enough to push an agenda that Americans don’t want. If they can pass “immigration reform” they won’t have to worry about being reelected this year or in the next few years to come. And they’ve already proved they can pass any legislation they choose. This could end very badly.
