ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police say an Ohio man has been charged after authorities spotted him with a gun in a North Carolina airport parking lot as Air Force One was departing.
Asheville Regional Airport police Capt. Kevan Smith says at about 2 p.m. Sunday, officers saw 23-year-old Joseph McVey get out of a car in the public lot and he had a handgun.

Joseph McVey?
What the heck kind of charge is that?
“missed him by that much” Thank god The President was not harmed
Bogus
Please let Obama live to 125. If anything happens him he’ll be remembered as a hero rather than the zero he is.
Yeah. That was my first thought too.
This really is bizarre. A public parking lot, no where near the plane, and they arrest him for having what I presume is a legal gun, since they certainly would have said so if it wasn't.
I should say so. I’m not terrified of the public but I do feel like it’s a good idea to be armed in public places.
If you go armed, you shouldn’t be any more than mildly concerned of the public, at most.
McVey’s car had strobe lights like a police car might, but the suspect is not in law enforcement, said Smith.
They said he got out of the car and had a gun in full view at his side.
The president’s plane had taken off before the incident happened.
No crime here. NC allows open carry and CCW. Just because Zero was at the same airport is no crime.
Apparently there is a law in North Carolina derived from British common law that uses this phrase, “in terror of the public.” There’s a brief discussion here:

I agree with post 6. I remember when they turned the 50 cent piece into a Lee Harvey Oswald sharpshooting medal. I don’t want that to happen to another US coin.
Not only will he be remembered as a hero, there will be hundreds of elementary schools named after him and Biden will be president.
Better that Obama is found to be an illegal occupant of the White House.
Obama was already gone!
It’s kind of a double edged sword to me. If I go out unarmed I am concerned I won’t be able to defend myself if need be. If I go out armed I am a little concerned that I will defend myself. I really don’t want to shoot people. But I default to the lesser of two discomforting possibilities and almost always leave the house with a gun. You just can’t satisfy every desire in life.
Thanks, good info. I wonder how they determined his intent to terrorize others. The fact he had police strobes on his car does not prove he intended to pull people over.
The presidents plane had taken off before the incident happened.
