Armed man arrested at NC airport as Obama departs

This law “going armed to the terror of the public” has to involve not only a fire are but also a threatening demeanor.

This story leave a lot of unanswered questions. Are guns banned from the parking lot of this airport? Is it posted? Was this fellow waving this gun around? Was it holstered? Or could he have been simply securing it in his car before he went into the airport?

As for the flashing light "similar to a police light" on his car. A lot of people in my neck of the woods have them, some are emergency first responders others use their cars as "follow" cars for wide load trucks. I don't know what the law is in NC, but in my state you are permitted to have them as long as you have a valid reason.

No, it still sounds bogus to me. The second poster at that website says that the law was invoked when a guy with a gun was walking around in a public place uttering threats about killing someone.

This is just some poor sucker who happened to get out of his car in a public parking lot AFTER the President had left.

What the heck kind of charge is that?

It's an archaic 19th Century law that almost no one has ever heard of. In fact, today was the first mention of it I've heard in over a decade. It is used by NC law enforcement as a sort of catch-all "gotcha" in gun-related incidents where they don't like what you're doing but can't charge you with anything else.

Its use in this incident is pretty much pure harassment.
