Yid With Lid: He was giving the key note speech at a Washington Institute For Near East Policy and started it out with a "joke" that borders on anti-Semitic, teaching the crowd that Jews are just greedy merchants in the same vein as Shakespeare's Shylock...

I understand how these general officers find themselves in positions of direct reaction to whomsoever in occupying the white house...and the examples of officers you give are STILL on active duty...Gen Jones answered the call from a questionable, uncommitted, onerous ROE type of administration where he COULD have just been supportive of those still on active service, including and especially the BOOTS ON THE GROUND! This admin DOESN’T understand how to wage a war ...and the good GEN doesn’t seem to be helping them (and THE COUNTRY) out too much...the joke was exemplary of his attitude, I think...oh, and by now, he has apologized - wonder why....?

People are too thin-skinned and the same people on this thread crying like babies are the same people who...if some notable GOP'er had told this joke (and there have been instances)...would be telling the Dems to lighten up and stop being so thin skinned. This happens all the time on this board.
Now...as one poster posted earlier in the thread...this is more about making the dims play by the rules that they set. THAT is the fun part. THEY can't have their cake and eat it too...but here...I say again...lighten up. It was funny. I have heard some pretty funny Jewish jokes from my best friend...who BTW...is Jewish (and conservative from Queens). Should hear him "lament" the liberalness of his people...but that's another story.
I find your denigration of Ret Gen. James Jones to be childishly immature. The Jones Family has given this nation valourous service since the early days of WWII....
Gen. Jones’ father was one of the heroes of the Tarawa (Betio Island) assault. His Uncle lead an assault on a related Island in that same campaign, leading a Marine assualt on a Japanese held Island from a submarine via rubber boats....
The Jones brothers continued their valorous conduct/service throught the rest of WWII, and instilled their self sacrificing love of nation into James Logan Jones.
After a long, and noteworthy career as a professional Marine Officer, Gen Jones was chosen to become the USMC Commandant under Bush, earning that post in recognition of not only his dedication to national service, but also his intellegance, and demonstrated leadership abilities. After that usually career ending Post was selected as the first Marine to be SACEUR.... Overall Nato Commander. Following up that assignment James Jones became the NSA to President Bush, an post that he continues to hold under Obama.
You should be grateful that James Jones continues to serve our Nation. I am sure that he finds Obama to be a less than adequate CIC, and that he lets his patriotism override his disgust for Obama’s political orientation.....It is much better that we have Jones as a NSA than some Commie leaning idealogue that Obama most often appoints to his administration.....
That said, Jones is not only a lousy comedian, but his choice of material was, in this age of gotcha, ill considered. (The joke itself is an old one told many times by Jewish comedians. Self depricating jokes are usually classics, but....Jones is not Jewish...)
James Jones is a dedicated, hard working, intelligent and patriotic American who has sacrificed more of himself for this nation than a legion of his fellow citizens. Including you! (and me)
Obviously while he is not a talented comedian, he still deserves our respect for his continued efforts on behalf of our Nation.

At worst Ret. Gen. Jones is an exemplary former Marine that made a poor choice in humor according to the PC crowd.....
