Noah's Ark found in Turkey
THE SUN ^ | TODAY | STAFF REPORTER

The remains of Noah's Ark have been discovered 13,000ft up a Turkish mountain, it has been claimed.

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say they have found wooden remains on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey.

They claim carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old — around the same time the ark was said to be afloat.

Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team, said: "It's not 100 per cent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 per cent that this is it."

He said the structure contained several compartments, some with wooden beams, that they believe were used to house animals.

The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds none have ever been found above 11,000ft in the vicinity, Yeung said.

Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archaeological dig is conducted.

The biblical story says that God decided to flood the Earth after seeing how corrupt it was.

He then told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.

After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain.

Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants ran aground.

Well, some know, some doubt, some have faith and others have no faith... in my post, I was saying that “we know” ... (but for you it may be different ... :-) ...).

So the water level was 13,000 feet higher during the Flood than today.

Wonder where the water went?

I don't feel like crunching the numbers, but that's a lot of water to make disappear.

And the Algorians are worried about an inch per century...

“What’s a cubit?”

Oh, about 18 to 21 inches (’amah’ in Hebrew).

A qubit on the other hand is a unit of quantum information. It is the quantum analogue of the classical bit. It is described by a state vector in a two-level quantum-mechanical system, which is formally equivalent to a two-dimensional vector space over the complex numbers.

This will of course be a wait and see project. If true, great. If not no matter.

I do believe in the Ark, however, as I have thought about it, it stands to reason that Noah and his family would need wood, for housing, heat, etc.

I would think they simply dismantled the ARK for personnal use. I know I would have.

I tend to think the Gilgamesh story is the Akkadian version of the Hebrew original, with distortions added via “telephone game” effect.

Couldn’t have been, there were no Jewish peoples at the time. There were slaves in Egypt, but the Gilgamesh story predates the Pharoahs and slaves of Egypt. Ditto the Eden story. BTW, the story of Eden is quite different in its original form versus its Jewish form.

You were saying ...

I'm looking forward to talking with Noah in eternity.

You bet! And many will have that opportunity to talk to Noah and Adam and Abraham, and all the others. What a wonderful time we'll all have ... those who are in the hands of the Messiah of Israel... :-)

Nothing says every pair of animals was fully grown or that each pair had its own compartment.

I honestly don't know whether it was found, but my belief that I was created by God does not depend on that anyways.

I tend to think parking the arc in one of the most difficult places in the world was God's sense of humor.

People who think they crawled out of the primordial soup won't ever believe in Christ, his resurrection, or the word of God anyways IMHO.

“A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say they have found wooden remains on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey.”

That’s interesting. The Torah says specifically that the Ark landed on the mountains of Ararat, not on Ararat itself.

Genesis 8:4 “and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.”
