I’ll probably be flamed for this one, but I think the root of the problem is an immigration policy that is incoherent with reality.

I think we should do all that is mentioned, but we should add to it a more liberal admission policy along with elimination of the minimum wage. That will help reduce the demand for illegitimate labor, reduce the profitability of human trafficking, open up the market for that kind of labor, and allow us to screen the people who are coming in rather than having the state of lawlessness we now have with them swarming across the border wherever and however they can.

We’re kidding ourselves if we think we can keep them out or reserve jobs for Americans only with the laws we have now and with the resources we have to enforce them.

I’ve got one word for this....AMNESTY

We can secure our border and deport Illlegal Aliens. The Liberal Globalists, No. America Union communists, Hispano-Racist groups may not agree....but with some will, spine, and effort...the border can be secured and the Illegals deported. And, getting rid of illegals increases employement and wages....not anti-American Open Borders liberalism....

Texas doesn’t have the severe crime problems of Arizona despite the ongoing drug wars across the southwestern border. Arizona meanwhile leads the nation in abductions.

The way to retake the offensive is to implement the Arizona plan and demonstrate that it works. And that it works without all the sky-is-falling claims of racial profiling and unwarranted harassment that the left claims will happen. That and win the inevitable court challenges to the law. Oh, and not caving into the boycotts of Arizona will be nice, too.

If all that happens then you'll see more and more states adopt similar laws and the left's arguements against will be seen as ridiculous.

The Dem liberals and racist groups have it flat wrong on this one - real Americans are applauding this courageous, self-preserving move by Arizona. I hope it rallies other states and conservatives to action.

good article, This is from the comment section at link

I am an immigrant. I came to the USA LEGALLY, many years ago from Cuba. So, I have an interest in Latin migration to the Promised Land of America! However, my interest is LEGAL, by the book, immigration!!! The President and his regime, have FAILED to enforce current law in this nation regarding illegal aliens for several reasons:

1. They and their Liberal Socialist constituents are deluded into believing that all Latins, are for open, unrestricted immigration. A false assumption, believe me.

2. They delude themselves into the belief that illegal aliens are only doing jobs "Americans" refuse to do! Another false and absurd assumption. They also delude themselves into thinking that Blacks are behind unlimited immigration as well. WRONG!

3. The Liberal Socialists NEED the illegal vote, in order to maintain POWER and POWER is what it's all about for them!

Show up at the plant, factory, worksite, restaraunt, wherever, and verify citizenship. Illegals? Off to jail with the owner. Doesn’t seem so hard.

"We can secure our border and deport Illlegal Aliens."

How do we do this short of implementing martial law and is that really how we want to live? Whether we like it or not, there are somethings that just cannot be effectively outlawed. Making laws against things that people are going to do no matter what have never been successful and in many cases makes crime problems much worse when its done. Some examples are prohabition and the war on drugs.

The reality is that we have public policies that bring about perverse incentives for illegal immigration and that create a thriving market in human trafficking: labor regulations and taxation policies that are inhospitable to the American workforce with natural market pressures on the employers and an immigration policy that is incoherent with the demand for low wage labor.

My point is that all of these problems need to be fixed to keep the swarm of illegals under control without having to resort to a mass police state that will be only marginally effective.

You can call it what you wish, even label me a liberal and perhaps you're right about that in a classic sense. I call it common sense and rational problem solving.
