Glenn Beck Gives Obama The Silent Treatment
NewsReal Blog ^ | 5 MAY 2010 | Matthew Vadum

In a visually compelling format Glenn Beck heaped justified ridicule on one of the many false precepts of progressivism, to wit, that it is somehow “unfair” that some people have more money than others.

To do this, Beck gave President Obama (and his audience) the silent treatment on his TV show. (video link)

As a video clip showed the president saying

We’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.

Beck said nothing.

He went over to his chalkboard and began filling in how much money Obama’s friends and cronies have:

George Soros: $14 billion.

Oprah Winfrey: $245 million [that sounds really low for Oprah -MV].

Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton: $35 million.

Al Gore: $100 million (estimated).

Jeff Immelt: $5.1 million (a year).

Andy Stern: $306,000 (a year).

Franklin Raines: $65.3 million.

John Edwards: $30 million.

Michael Moore: $70 million [or so it appears -- it's hard to see the chalk from a long view on the TV screen -MV].

Throughout the segment Obama’s voice saying, “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money” plays over and over again.

At the end Beck writes on a separate chalkboard

Mr President,
Why don’t you ask your friends to set the example on how much is too much?

Let the first left-winger who is willing to draw a line between unacceptably high levels of wealth and acceptable levels of wealth donate his or her fortune to help reduce the national debt.

A question: does it not matter at all that the amount of money one has is not nearly so relevant as how one obtained it?

I just go with “Everything Obama says is a Lie”. Things fall into place after that assumption.

Who cares what Glenn makes? that’s not the point.. Glenn isn’t the one telling you that you make too much money.

Progressivism, liberalism, collectivism, Obamaism ... all just another name for HYPOCRISY.

A good many of the anti Glenn right are actually closet marxists.

“Glenn conveniently ommited the fact that he makes $32 million per year and has a net worth that has been reported to exceed $100 million.”

It is not Beck who wants to cap income and redistribute wealth. It is Obama and his supporters. The list was comprised of very wealthy supporters of Obama and his policies.

"Glenn conveniently ommited the fact that he makes $32 million per year and has a net worth that has been reported to exceed $100 million."

The difference, which you don't appear to appreciate, is that Beck isn't telling anyone "“I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money". How much Beck makes (or has made) is irrelevant to the salient point.

Beck’s personal wealth is immaterial. He isn’t the one that’s trying to claim there should be a cap on how much money someone can earn.

And because the Zer0 admonished the press, or was it just Fox news, to get their facts right; Glenn keeps checking the red phone to see if it’s still working. ‘If I’m wrong about anything, Mr. President, give me a call and set the record straight.’

So far, nothing but silence.

Congratulations on completely missing the point.

Beck is not the one trying to 'share the wealth', insisting that the rich pay 'their fair share', destroying capitalism or controlling executive pay and bonuses.

If he were, you might have something there.

Go sit in the corner...

There are two Beck clips at this link:

that are important, in case you didn’t see that show.

Glen Beck is not telling you that there is some point where you have made enough money. The preso is stating this and wants to take it away from you. Glen wants you to keep it if you’ve earned it properly!

Stealing doesn’t count!

But Glenn isn’t the one running around the country telling folks they have “made enough” money either.

Yes, but Beck is not suggesting that there is a limit to earnings, so he’s not hypocritical like 0bummer & Friends.

Wren’t the Obama’s recently said to be worth on the order of $5,000,000? Not exactly pikers.
