Appears the driver is missing, at this point.

The same could be said of trucks loading/unloading and fires. It’s low but they happen.

Not paying attention, ignorance, deliberate safety violations, all accidents waiting to happen.

Thanks for the info. I’d never seen that type of system before.

How does ANYTHING get proven otherwise if our corrupt “cover-up prone” government takes over the investigation? Remember TWA flight 800?

So the driver has been found and no one has died. That is truly good news thanks.

Well you may not have to wait long to replace it:

http://www.abc26.com/news/local/wgno-news-oil-rig-explosion,0,7511721.story
Since 2001, there have been 69 offshore deaths, 1,349 injuries and 858 fires and explosions in the Gulf, according to the federal Minerals Management Service.

Back when DHS was being run by half serious people, there were a bunch of initiatives related to vetting truckers/haz mat drivers. In 2007 some states agreed to begin working with the feds—

Enhanced Driver’s Licenses: DHS signed agreements with the states of Washington, Vermont, New York, and Arizona to enhance the security of their state driver’s licenses and potentially satisfy REAL ID requirements or serve as alternatives for entry at land and sea borders.

There was also some insurance-driven tech being looked at, GPS, remote security and such. Merchant marine and truck drivers were areas of concern.

Yes, but when a fire happens involving the loading/unloading of fuel there is a bigger probability of that 1) being reported, and 2) having an effect on the price at the pump.

No, I don’t think it’s made up.

I guess it just seems like they’ve been forgotten, and the lack of any reference to them at all almost seems disrespectful. The environmental damage was extensive, but there were greater losses that day.

I do agree with the need to respect the families’ privacy though. If that’s what’s going on, I understand.

Thank you. No, I’m not happy about it. It just seems like everyone’s focus is on the environmental damage, when 11 lives were lost.

Unfortunately the link from post 139 does not actually provide any information specific to the driver of the tanker. The other person accounted for is not identified in any way, shape, or form as the driver of the tanker.

Correct but one person thought to be a driver was missing. No where have I seen him identified as the driver of the truck. I watch his live off and on for a couple of hours as it was unfolding. I don’t think anyone is missing at this stage.

The billowing smoke led to evacuations for up to a mile from the site, and there was a scare as one of the truck drivers at the refinery was initially unaccounted for (he was found, and is fine).

Matches and sparks tend to be hotter than that.
