Student Group Disbanded After Blacks-Only Field Trip [black-students-only group] [ Profiling ]

The Michigan school district investigating whether an elementary school field trip that excluded white students was illegal has disbanded the black-students-only academic support group that participated in the outing two weeks ago.

“We have essentially put it on hold while we wait for the final determination on the investigation into possible violation of the State's Proposal 2,” Ann Arbor School District spokeswoman Liz Margolis told FoxNews.com.

Thirty members of the Dicken Elementary School’s AA Lunch Bunch, a support group designed to bridge the gap in test scores between white and black students, were taken on a field trip two weeks ago to meet Alec Gallimore, an African-American rocket scientist who is an aerospace engineering professor and propulsion lab director at the University of Michigan.

“It is likely this lunch program will be reworked to serve more students who are not testing at proficient or above on the state assessment tests,” said Margolis, who last week told FoxNews.com that the principal's motives were not in question.

“There’s a lot to be said for stability, security, regularity, home life, 2 parents, dinner together and a “boring” predictability.”

My old man was never home when I was a kid...he was regular Navy...but I had a lot of family around and focused on school, sports and community. When he was around, he the Master Chief, but he was my dad, too. He didn’t try to be my friend. He tried to be my Dad. I think a lot of these kids could use a little support, but the way the schools and the Dems keep telling them they are screwed, they give up. What’s that phrase? The soft bigotry of low expectaions? Captures it perfectly.

Cripplecreek, I am thinking from your post that may have heard this interview by Frank Beckmann about the Pacific Educational Group. I encourage everyone to listen to this short interview from Frank’s program last week on WJR-Detroit. These people are racist, if you ask me, and perpetuating racism in subsequent generations. http://www.wjr.com/Article.asp?id=1793132&spid=34613

You are correct, especially in your first and last paragraphs.

I was in public school from ‘48-’60. Most kids graduated on time. Pennies on the dollar for education, compared to what is happening today. ....Big difference: the teachers did NOT belong to unions back then!!! Unions are destroying this country and every vocation or industry where they gain a foothold. They provide protection for their unproductive members and constantly demand higher wages and more benefits for them. Teachers no longer have an incentive to produce well educated kids (that’s a generality on my part).

That CA school where the 5 boys were sent home for wearing USA flag shirts; They have a MeCha Club. A racist group that calls for the overthrow of the US and establishment of a new Aztlan nation in the southwest.

"Thirty members of the Dicken Elementary School’s AA Lunch Bunch, a support group designed to bridge the gap in test scores between white and black students..."

Give 'em a break: it wasn't intended to be a "blacks-only group" - it just turned out that way...

The black-only group is okay, freedom of association and all that.

Should be okay but it isn't, unless you can imagine a whites only group.

The culture at home does not encourage excellence.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner.

As a substitute in several Metro Detroit districts, I would agree. Also, the culture at home often does not encourage reading even the most mundane things like newspapers or magazines.

But, that's okay. It's so much eaiser to be a Democrat if you haven't read widely (or wisely)

Its easy to blame the family situation and it does play a part but people need to recognize that there is a group that is behind this sort of thing.

Its kind of pointless to consider changing the home situation of these kids until groups like PEG are dealt with.

“Thirty members of the Dicken Elementary School’s AA Lunch Bunch, a support group designed to bridge the gap in test scores between white and black students...”

Hold the phone a minute! Years ago black students were forcibly bussed from their neighborhood all black schools in my town to predominately white neighborhood schools several miles away. This was done in the name of integration and higher achievement. Now black students need their own support group in an integrated school to get better grades?

This field trip is just another example of the new segregation in and direction of this country. Obama, SEIU, Acorn, NBPP, et al, are black nationalists pure and simple. Equal opportunity is not what they’re after any more than Stormfront.

The mothers are just as bad, Sherman. It is she who allows herself to be impregnated by multiple irresponsible dudes.

More food stamps, welfare, section 8, EITC and if she’s really lucky, an ADHD kid or two (who simply hasn’t been disciplined at all in its life) who qualifies for SSI!!!

And of course, because she can’t get to work with so many kids, she’ll figure out what she needs to do to qualify for a disability check too.

That’s a nice living!

And it’s the social welfare state promulgated by Democrats that dissuades the “poor” from forming intact biological families, BTW.

Exactly! And to think AAPS paid this group hundreds of thousands of dollars to advise the administrators. This principal appears to be a strong advocate of their racist thinking. It sounds as though they are advising school systems across the nation.

(that used textbooks written in the 40’s, and 50’s),

That used used textbooks... You'd write your name in the book under the student's name that used it the year before which was under the name of the student that used it the year before that and on and on....

I agree 100%.

I was responding to the common statement that the only thing missing from these unfortunate children’s lives is the continuous presence in the home of their biological father.

A brutal, lazy and/or criminal father’s presence is little if any improvement over his absence.

Since the mothers of these children very seldom abandon them, they are obviously morally superior to the “fathers,” but if they had their act together they wouldn’t be having kids out of wedlock anyway.

Question: Every February-and all throughout the year lately, we hear of how much blacks have done for America-you know: “Jehosephat Watkins invented the club sandwich in 1867”, and “Boqualvis Thompson invented the electric turd polisher in 1880”, blah blah blah.

It’s always some obscure thing that happened long, long ago.
(fertile ground for bull$hit, in other words) and indeed, almost all of these claims have been proven to be total BS or at least wildly exaggerated-even much of the George Washington Carver, Charles Drew type stuff has been proven to be feel-good myth.

But that’s not what we hear every year-we hear all the hoo-ha about these “unsung heroes” from “back in the day”

So since Detroit’s now an all black paradise, where are all the great black scholars and inventors now? the black Henry Ford-the black Bill Gates?

Great post.

I hate to say it-and I’m not trying to be sarcastic-but while your reason #2 is the main reason, I wonder if #1 doesn’t have at least some validity as far as a cause.
