A question for birthers: why Mombassa?
Vanity | Me

Posted on 05/12/2010 8:47:16 AM PDT by curiosity

The origin of modern myths and legends is a side interest of mine, the birther myths among them.

Now I understand why Obama being born in Kenya made it into your belief system, despite it being physically impluasible (requiring around 5 days and five flights, most on propeller planes) and financially impossible (it would have cost about a year of her parents' combined salaries) for Stanley Ann & Obama Sr. to travel there for her to give birth. After all, Obama's Father was from Kenya, so if you are going to make up a myth about Obama being born abroad, what better place than Kenya?

Implausibilty, and even impossiblilty doesn't deter the making of myths if there is a strong emotional reason to believe them, as in this case.

What I don't understand is, of all possible places in Kenya, why make Mombassa the birthplace in your myth? If you look at the map of Kenya, it's on the other end of the country from Obama Sr.'s village, 762 miles away, which would make it a minimum 2 day train ride. Probably longer, since Kenyan trains were very fast in 1961.

I suppose you could argue that there were no hospitals in Obama's village, so they had to travel to a major city. But Nairobi was closer, and more modern.

So why Mombassa? Not only is it completely implausible; I don't see the emotional appeal. Why Mombasssa rather than his father's village? Or why Mombassa rather than Nairobi?

Help me out here, birthers. Why do you reserve this special place for Mombassa in your belief system?

“Obama has a valid COLB attesting to his Hawaiian birth, two statements from the state Department of Health explicitly noting his birth in Honolulu, and not one but two contemporaneous reports of his birth there.”

“People wonder why Obama doesn’t demand that Hawaii release the original records to put an end to the Birther nonsense. The biggest reason? It wouldn’t work. The same people who believe that Obama forged a Certificate of Live Birth twice corroborated by the state that issued it will insist that Obama got someone to forge any new records produced by Hawaii as well”

“and there have been many times since. Recently the governor said what hospital he was born in.”

All the health official said was she has seen and verified Obama’s BC. She didn’t say he was born there. She has never answered yes or no to the question. Why is that?

The Health official never said what hospital Obama was born in. so the Governor is either lying or mistaken.

Your own link exposes your assertion as a blatant lie! Typical dullard obamanoid liar you are. Loosen your kneepads, you’re cutting off the blood supply to your tiny brain.

“irrational beliefs...” “my research on the development of financial bubbles.”

Up from the depths comes Mr. Flame!!
Welcome back from the cozy confines of the ivory tower and the elite overlook.

So absurd are some things that only history can resurrect the truth from the clutches of the apologists and nay-sayers. Like, say, Alger Hiss or the Rosenbergs. Or any number of political hacks throughout the centuries.

I’m more concerned about the truths posited by economists like “The traditional incentives, hope of money-making and fear of money-loss, will be weakened, and a kind of civil-service loyalty and fervor will need to grow gradually into acceptance.” This quote is from Rex Tugwell, part of FDR’s braintrust. Tugwell was a part of the Institutional Economics school of thought, and as an economist was wholeheartedly enamored with the Soviets ability to ‘manage’ their economies so efficiently.

Call me crazy. But absurd, irrational beliefs like this are why economists are only slightly more trusted than fortunetellers.

it is hard to argue with people who have a list of made up “facts”.

"Made up facts"? That's it? That's your argument? You're essentially refusing the challenge to rebut Vendome's argument by offering yet another weak and baseless charge.

Ok. You've just forfeited your right to be taken seriously by anyone reading here.

Done.

Wow!

Smugness personified!

LOL, I'm sure the "birthers", as you call them (along with anyone else who can recognize a vanity troll), will be "helping you out".

Though I'm puzzled as to why you think you have a right to ask birthers to respond, but ridicule them for questions they aim at Obama.

I scanned the first page of responses, and didn't see a single response from you to other posters.

I guess you're a "post and run" vanity troll.

Obama was born in one of the 57 states. But I don’t know which one and neither do you because he has not produced a valid birth certificate.

Grow up and seek the truth.

Why do you support a liar?

Too funny when you see people like this.

They can’t rebutt the information.

It is irrefutable and they know it.

Too bad its a fake Certification of Live Birth!

Take a closer look at the fightthesmears birth certificate and zoom in on it. You will notice that the pixels around all wording on that document shows altering. It should be clean and crisp, but it is not.

There has been no effort by the Health department in Hawaii to legitimize that birth certificate. They state that they have seen the birth certificate on file, but they have not said that the posted internet birth certificate is legitimate!

Everyone has a long form - so what is the problem and why do you not care that this is a cover up? I'm not convinced that he is Natural born, but I also believe that to be natural born is to have to US citizen parents even if one was naturalized. This gives the child allegiance to only the United States. Barry has divided allegiance which disqualifies him for our highest office.

This vanity is nothing more than a regular visit by a seminar caller.

I know a guy that has multiple accounts on multiple conservative websites and blogs all for the express intent of stirring the pot on the birther issue. He is an agitator. Every so often he throws a fit to get noticed. His senility carries him like Don Quixote lancing his windmills of delusion from pretend black ops to conspiracies to overthrow the US through the Tea Party Patriots. Not familiar with the names but his style of writing and fighting is unmistakable.

For all the talk of getting to the “bottom of the matter” the point remains that this is a vanity with the sole purpose of causing arguments within the conservative community that really don’t amount to much. Few outside the usual suspects care one wit. Truth is no one outside this thread really cares except we must endure the President, his wife, a leftist comedy hack writer, and a few operatives to stir up the birthers once in a while.

Non birthers cry not this shit again.

For all those leftist operatives sitting behind your monitors, calling radio hosts, blogging, and tweeting the fewer and fewer friends you have here’s the truth, your asses are out in 2010. We know you are scared to death. Better be. Your asses are out, birth certificate or no birth certificate.

I feel better.

"This birther stuff is a dead end and a waste of time and energy."

That comment comes from an economist who wastes most of his time and energy on this subject.

....A question for birthers: why Mombassa?.....

It is a seaport, easy to take a cheap cargo or passenger ship there.

Better question is as BIGLOOK put it why Kapi’olani?

“I’ve gone over this before many times. Yes, Kapi’olani Clinic for Women and Children has been around since the days of Queen Lilioukalani. It was a clinic for Hawaiians and later for plantation worker’s families to receive health care, gratis. It was and is a well intentioned, noble public health institution for the poor, but it was just clinic.

Kapi’olani Hospital wasn’t built until the ‘70s and opened sometime in the mid ‘70s, while I was attending the UH at Manoa.

Let’s look at it this way; it’s 1961, do you think Madelyn Dunham would drive her hapai daughter several blocks past Queen’s Hospital to give birth at a clinic? Besides, the clinic would just send her to Queen’s anyway. “
