It seems Laura Bush is not too bothered how this administration has treated her husband George!

Throw ‘em all out. They are all trying to subvert this Republic.

re: Laura Bush tells “Fox News Sunday” that women should be represented “in all parts of American political and civic life.”

Fine. Is Kagan a real woman?

If her qualification, in Laura Bush’s eyes, is that Kagan is female...well, over half the nation is qualified to be a supreme court justice then...and the vast majority would be a better one. And if you limit it to just female lawyers...you’d still find plenty more qualified.

There is no shame for a celebrity - and that's exactly what I would call any First Lady, a celebrity - to say, "I don't have enough subject-matter expertise to know "x".

Laura Bush isn't a lawyer, nor has she ever written about or commented on pressing legal matters, especially as they relate to the Supreme Court, and the qualifications of candidates who aspire to that Court. Why couldn't she say, "I just don't know enough about the law to have an informed opinion?"

"Laura Bush tells "Fox News Sunday" that women should be represented "in all parts of American political and civic life.""

I'm sorry dear Laura but that is one of the most sexist statements I have heard. It's implying that all women think alike. Women do have much different views across the board that profoundly effect legislation. Not just any woman will do.

I believe you are right, a few years ago I would have not thought so,

Laura has really disappointed me, I am shocked and dismayed.

I saw the original lead-in question and it set her up for the answer she gave. As I recall, she was asked what she thought of another woman being nominated; What was she supposed to say? Would you expect her to say ‘no, there are already enough women on the court’?

The original question was not specific to Kagan as the candidate...about whom she would not likely have any specific knowledge.

She was sandbagged.

The answer is being taken and used out of context to indicate support for this particular candidate.

What a dingbat. Still the classiest First Lady ever, however.

Laura Bush, in case you haven’t check, Elena Kagan is a
‘woman’ on an even shakier level of ambivalence than Ginsburg
and Sotomayor. Well, I guess she might qualify as the SECOND
“wise Jewish woman” on the Court, after Ginsburg.
The whole point is, we are sick and tired of “identity politics”. It should have no place in our political life.
Rulings from ANY of these three women on , what , “women’s
issues”???? will not change the general “dialogue” on “abortion rights, for example, more than any other Supreme Court , like one featuring ALL MEN, as long as a majority of them are “pro-choice”. What THESE three particular women WILL ensure, however, is a LOCK on this pro-choice,
anti-Life issue for the next 20 or so years.

If Laura Bush thinks that the Kagan nomination is 'great', she is beyond help, she is an absolute, blithering nit wit.

I want to see some of her apologists and fans try to explain this away and why Mrs Bush should be cut some slack for her support of an avowed leftist who has no comprehension, let alone respect for the Constitution and our Republic.

Laura? STFU!

So........under that placid facade was a rabid liberal. Thank you for showing your true colors All this time it was my belief you were a solid and serene individual supporting your husband but now the truth comes out.

When I see your photo now...the ugliness of your soul will be glaringly obvious.
