Kagan Unlikely To See GOP Filibuster On Nomination

By JESSE J. HOLLAND WASHINGTON – Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan is unlikely to face a GOP filibuster but should expect difficult questions from lawmakers who will decide whether she deserves the lifetime appointment despite having no judicial experience, the Senate's second-ranking Republican said Sunday. "The filibuster should be relegated to the extreme circumstances, and I don't think Elena Kagan represents that," said Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The committee chairman, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said he hoped to have Kagan on the bench this summer, succeeding retiring Justice John Paul Stevens well ahead of the new term that begins in October. GOP senators are placing great weight on her testimony in determining the fate of President Barack Obama's second nominee for the high court. At issue is her lack of a judicial paper trail.

Kagan is now solicitor general, the top government lawyer who argues the administration's cases before the Supreme Court, and was dean of Harvard Law School. But she has never been a judge. "She has so little other record, this is going to be a big deal," said Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the committee's top Republican. "It's so important how she testifies."

We might not have the votes to deny her SCOTUS, but -—

THIS IS A TEACHABLE MOMENT!

It is exactly times like these when we can focus on how radical Obama is, by exposing how radical his friends are!

Being on record for curtailing free speech is not extreme circumstances? Really???? Okay, voters, you know what to do with his seat.

If the Repubs spinelessly let her through, they will have proven their utter irrelevance.

I also wonder, says who?

Boehner and Snowe have both suggested it, but that isn’t a commitment.

If those jampokes in the Senate don’t block this confirmation by any and all means possible, that’s it, as far as I’m concerned. The Republican Party is dead, and must be replaced, because it cannot be fixed.

This is it. They failed to block the damned Obamacare bill, because Boehner couldn’t be bothered to discipline Snowe. Too much trouble, I suppose.

This is their last chance. We do not need to put a flaming Communist, activist, lesbian, America-hating nutcase on SCOTUS for the NEXT 30 years. We’ve been suffering for 30 or 40 years already from this kind of incompetence, ever since Earl Warren was put on the court—by a Republican president.

So an anti-military leftist who’s never been a judge and has very little paper trail is not “extreme” to you, Senator?

Tell me Senator, what positions do you think she will take on various issues . . .you know, sort of, what is the proper role of the federal government vis a vis the states?

Would you find those “extreme”? Curious minds want to know.

Don’t be fools. Make this dodo and other Obama appointments a political issue. Good lord where’s your minds sometimes?

I think if they just get her to admit she can’t preside over any case involving Goldman Sachs or the cases that she worked as White House counsel...then her value goes to fifty percent. I don’t think the White House considered the implications of her having to step aside on a dozen cases in the first year...and this will come back to be a moment of stupidity on the White House for picking her.

But you have to make her acknowledge what a normal judge would do in a circumstance like this.

my feelings too

I am sick ot death of the GOP going along with obama and his radical goons from chicago just so they think the likes of the NY times, MSNBC won’t call them names.

The GOP have been spineless to standing up and calling out this radical agenda, they refuse to shout out about socialism, they refuse to call out the media on their corrupt reporting for the far left

We are one vote away from every privately held gun to be taken away.

We are one vote away from the complete Stalinist eradication of every Christian symbol from public life.

We are one vote away from the insane notion that the Constitution guarantees full and complete health care, a home and a job to everyone who wants one.

We are one vote away from the forced governmental dismantling of the First Amendment, through every medium including the internet and the radio.

We are one vote away from New Haven Fire Fighters becoming the law of the land, when your child’s grades, years of study, and hard work are thrown down the sewer of political correctness if the racial outcome does not meet the pyscho-left’s definition of racial equality.

We are one vote away from the eradication of property rights.

We are one vote away from the takeover of private industry by the government.

We are one vote away from mandated sterilizations and the decree that humans and their breath are a form of pollution.

We are one vote away from Big Brother - just one, and they will not relent because these appointments are of a very extremist nature with a leftist political agenda. They mean to change America through the will of leftist judges - and not through the ballot box because their ideology is rejected.

Our sacred Bill of Rights will be gone. The power of the State will not be stopped.

With a few exceptions, this is what I think of Republicans. They let me down. They let me down. They let me down.
