Senate passes financial regulation bill

The Senate approved new far-reaching financial rules on Thursday aimed at preventing the risky behavior and regulatory failures that brought the economy to the brink of collapse two years ago and cost millions of Americans their jobs and savings.

The bill passed by a vote of 59 to 39, with four Republicans joining a majority of Democrats in supporting it.

The 1,500-page measure, shepherded through the Senate by Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.), chairman of the banking committee, seeks to reshape both Washington and Wall Street.

They successfully courted Republican Sens. Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins, both of Maine, in part by including in the final bill provisions that each wanted. Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) also backed the bill. Equally critical was the last-minute push to win over Scott Brown (R), the Senate's newest member.

GOP members railed about the fact that Dodd's bill would not address the problems at government-backed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Gold and silver, and a shotgun to protect it.

There is NOTHING more sickening than the fact that Dodd and Frank spear-headed this bill.

Isn't there ANYONE in the country who can take down these snakes?

Only 1500 pages? Are you sure they missed anything? What else is hidden in this bill?

Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), chairman of the Senate agriculture committee, proposed dramatic restrictions on trading in derivatives, including a provision that could force big banks to spin off the lucrative business altogether. Her language was added to Dodd's bill and endured, despite efforts by the administration, regulators, lobbyists and Dodd himself to temper it.

I'm about ready to take the red pill and endure what I may encounter.

Anywhere where personal freedom has a chance.

Just another notch in the retake of America. We didn’t expect less. They’re dealing with Americans, they’re not dealing with Europeans. We won’t be ruled. So all this stuff is their doing, is going to be useless. First, it’s unconstitutional, second, it’s unprecedented. But third, we thrive on liberty. You government types, yeah, pass a law, and we’ll abide by it if it’s constitutional Sorry, we won the English.

None of this matters. LOL I’d like to see you manage me. And thousands of me’s. Come get me. Come on, send the storm troopers. Get a life, I’m not abiding by your rules, my kids won’t and their kid’s wont. Get a CLUE! We’re done with you. I fart in your direction.
