Can this be for real? From Carly Fiorina's Twitter feed:
@CarlyforCA Breaking news: Fiorina 46%, Campbell 23%, DeVore 14% according to new Survey USA poll. Proof that hard work pays off!
This, I'm told by the Fiorina campaign, was just reported on television on L.A. The last SurveyUSA poll showed Fiorina trailing Campbell 35% to 24%, with DeVore in third at 15%. So, if true, this new poll would represent a huge swing--such a huge swing that I'm curious to see the actual poll.
Carly is trouble
When she was at Lucent, there were boxcars full of circuit boards sitting in the Texas sun. As soon as they were loaded and left the station, the sale registered.
Those boards got cooked.
Just curious. Can you back it up?
“The last Republican elected to the US Senate from CA was “PRO-ABORTION” Pete Wilson in ‘82 and again in ‘88.”
So, yes, liberal Republicans usually lose because they can’t bring out conservative or moderate voters. Pete Wilson was a moderate Republican, to the left of Fiorina, but certainly no Campbell.
Carly Fiorina is a moderate-to-conservative Republican, the type that would likely run best in California. Mind you, I’m not saying that a 100% conservative can’t win in the state, only that it is easier for a moderate-to-conservative Republican to win.
While I would have been willing to roll the dice with a 100% conservative such as Tom McClintock or Darryl Issa, they chose not to run, and the only 100% conservative, Chuck DeVore, does not appear to have a chance of winning the primary. So I’m backing the 75% conservative, Carly Fiorina.
I think it is more like, the old axiom, nature hates a vacuum.
These women, Palin, Bachman, along with Ann Coulter et.al
and a few others see that the conservative men aren’t moving
up in the line as they should be doing. So, someone must
take the lead. I don’t care if the person has ovaries or
testicles or is white or black or mixed, as long as they
cherish the U.S. Constitution, our history, our
sovereignty and our God given rights. Let them take the
reins. I’ll follow a “Boudicca” !!1
There is no fact in the reply to me. The poster fancies himself/herself a “know it all” when it comes to CA politics.
I merely pointed out a “fact” that s/he didn’t appreciate.
Agreed. But this does indeed present a puke-inducing prospect for many of us.
If indeed DeVore is stuck in 3rd place, and is helping Campbell win, what options do we really have? And what puts DeVore in the best position to do well in the future - riding this thing to the bitter end, or calling a cease-fire on "Demonsheep Carly" so that conservatives MIGHT salvage a little bit out of this election? (But then again, Fiorina vs. Boxer will be a brutal fight to show who's the least incompetent... and Boxer owns a fierce machine.)
Between Campbell, Fiorina, and Boxer, the same thing is going to happen at the end of the night, it's just that Fiorina is telling us she's going to buy us dinner first before buckling up the strap-on.... :-(
“Those who will not vote in the General Election if Devore doesn’t win, or will choose to write in Devore in the General if he doesn’t make the cut, are just Useful Idiots for Boxer.”
I worked on the Bruce Hershchensohn campaign when he ran against Boxer. Bruce defeated Tom Campbell for the nomination in 1992. I remember very clearly Campbell’s Big Tent GOP supporters announcing that there was no way that they would vote for Bruce in the General Election.
As usual it’s the “moderates” who make a lot of noise about how only their chosen candidate can win. And you know they’re right- because your crowd has a history of not voting for the conservatives.
Was listening to John Fund of WallStreet Journal last night
on John Batchelor and others.
They have Fiorina in first place also
She is the best to take on Boxer.
If Campbell wins, Boxer won’t have to campaign in the general election, she will walk in.
Yes, I remember Pete Wilson well. In fact, his first campaign for Assemblyman in the 37 District was the first campaign I ever worked in.
Pompous ass?
Well I suppose you’re right- after all I was quoting you.
Sarah wants the best conservative with an actual chance to win. William F. Buckley invented that concept. He'd be proud of her.
I live in a deep red state (TX) and CA is deep blue, but from what I've seen, I'd trade Kay Barely Republican for Carly Fiorina straight up and my state would be WAY ahead.
That candidate would have to win the nomination first. Going by this poll, DeVore doesn't seem to have much of a chance of winning the nomination. The gap is too wide.
“and probably the most conservative U.S. Senator from California in over a half century.”
.
Sam Hayakawa!
.
Here’s a hint:
“Pesky fact” is a phrase I copied from your pal’s previous post to me.
It’s mockery in case you need a road map.
The Independents seem to control us in California....
You know it.
Carly is far more Conservative than Kay Baily
” The poster fancies himself/herself a know it all when it comes to CA politics.”
Himself. I’ve lived in CA since 1966 and been active in politics since 1972. And you?
Boxer is dead.
Any of the three Republicans can easily beat her.
Campbell is worse than Boxer.
S.I. Hayakawa was certainly strong on having Engish be the language of instruction, but he was also 100% pro-abortion: http://nchla.org/keyresults.asp?state=&locale=checkcongper&congper=Hayakawa&zip=&plusfour=&year=1977&year2=1983&issue=&terms=-1&bills=-1&vote=&displaysize=10&displaystarts=1&displaystarth=1&submit=Search+Key+Votes
