This morning, Bob Beckel appeared on the Fox News Channel to comment upon Helen Thomas' recent rabidly anti-Semitic remarks about Israel and Jews. To my astonishment, Beckel defended Thomas' remarks as "part of the free speech we Americans enjoy." When asked if Thomas should be fired by Hearst, Beckel went on to say that that was up to Hearst, but that the First Amendment guaranteed her the right to slander Jews and Israel while she worked as Grand Dam of White House reporting/commentary. I don't know whether Beckel is also a Jew hater or that he is incapable of criticizing a fellow Liberal. Either way, his opinions are now officially worthless.
Even for Beckel, this was a stretch. I have emailed Beckel about this and await his reply.
i can’t stand that hannity has him on and gives him any credence whatsoever. what is especially ludicrous is that he will opine on MORALITY despite having written a check to a prostitute!

Poor Jimmy The Greek, Beckel not around to help him keep his job, too busy running the Dukakis failure to save Al Campanis as well. And I guess he thinks the press media have First Amendment cover but not radio types like Don Imus.

The Jewish minority in this country may be bad-mouthed with relative impunity everywhere, but God forbid that any similar diatribe be raised againse the Muslim interlopers who have come to this country to establish the base for their world Caliphate.
The Jewish people do not entertain any such ambitions, and yet, they are vilified at every quarter, it would seem.
Actually, Helen Thomas was only a little edgier than most of the critics of Israel and the entire Jewish theology, and like most of them, picked and applied only the “facts” that seem to fit the template.

She DOES have the right to free speech. Her employer also has the right to employee her or NOT depending on how she chooses to exercise her free speech.

Honest sometimes the idiocy that comes out of their mouths defy common sense.
Others used to be as stupid, Carville for one, but now are starting to wake up. Kirsten Powers is another.
Beckel demonstrates once again how DUMB lefties are. The question was if she should be fired by her employer, a private enterprise. The First Amendment of the Constitution, of course, applies only to actions by the government. Way to go, Bob, have another doughnut.

I agree with Bob Beckel statement-”part of the free speech we Americans enjoy”.
I encourage the left to continue to air their personal viewpoints in the name of FREE Speech regarding current issues because I want to know WHO our enemies are and WHAT they are thinking.

Isn’t there a big difference between agreeing with her message (which I don’t believe he did) and saying that her comments don’t subject her to criminal sanctions—in other words are protected free speech under the First Amendment.
I am glad she made the comments, because she hopefully just ended her career.
As to Hearst’s treatment of her—that is a private contractual relationship. Again, I hope they fire her. If they don’t, then I’ll consider her retention to be a reflection of Heart’s views.
Be assured, Beckel will probably be on Hannity’s within the next two days and Hannity will bring up the Thomas mention...one more chance to hear Beckel cough his spew up...
I have gotten to the point that when Beckel is on Hannity’s, I change the channel cause I can not stand to listen to his spew anymore....for an academic, he is an absolute idiot.
