I'm seeking some information from anyone who may know about the process or has gone through it. My husband was placed on the TDRL list June of 2005. Our end date is next week. His last appoints for the PEB haven't been set up, he can't get a hold of the woman who handles them, and our ID cards ie., our DEERS and medical expire next week. We can't find anyone who knows how to get them extended temporarily until the PEB is done and he's placed on the PDRL. He has been in contact with the Wounded Warriors for help and is currently writing our congressman. Is there anyone who has done this or understands the process and can guide us in the right direction?
Thanks!
Wow.
Too many acronyms for me to figure out what this is even about...
Call your Congress critter.
Good luck, now you know the value of all those faceless bureaucrats.
Follow-up- My husband emailed our congress critter (also called his office), the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and the Sargent Major. His appointment was moved up to this morning, adjudicated, and finished. Our ID cards will be renewed on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for all of the info.
Just an aside, there is actually nothing in place to catch service members if their TDRL date comes up and their board is not finished. It cannot be extended. We were told they have not run into this problem before. I’m not surprised as my husband was one of the first injured in the war in 2003. Our hope is this will be an eye opener that something needs to be put into place because it is known there is a backlog of appointments needed.
