California: We're not sure what to make of Barbara Boxer's hair, but she's clearly not bringing a new look to Washington politics. Likewise, in the race for governor, Democrats are going with '70s nostalgia.
As open-mike moments go, Carly Fiorina has just had one that might be called a happy gaffe. Sure, it's a little undignified to be caught on video dishing your opponent's hairdo at the start of a Senate campaign.
Columnist Ruth Marcus (at IBDeditorials.com) finds this kind of behavior way too middle schooly. And Fiorina was at least slightly on the defensive, pointing out that she was just quoting a friend when she said, "God, what is that hair? ... Sooo yesterday."
But here's the happy part: Fiorina could not have come up with a better tag for both Barbara Boxer and Jerry Brown, the Democrat who's running for governor against Republican Meg Whitman. "Sooo yesterday" says it all about the two long-in-the-tooth liberals.
The label is apt not because of their hair but because of their politics. Boxer and Brown bring absolutely nothing new to the scene. She's a Senate survivor trying for a fourth term. He's a former governor who left that office 27 years ago and now wants a rerun.

It was a silly comment, but I have to admit that Diane Feinstein has a 1950’s hairdo that makes Boxer look modern day.
Let’s dooooo the time warp againnnnnnnnnn!
