Here's a dose of reality.
The father of teen sailor Abby Sunderland told The NY Post that he's broke and had signed a contract to do a reality show, "Adventures in Sunderland," about his family of daredevil kids weeks after she set off on her doomed and dangerous solo sail around the globe.

So, do you think all those people who climbed Mt. Everest spent their money on rope, oxygen, tents, pack animals, sherpas or put all their cash into a 'remedial fund' set aside to pay for any needed rescue?
You know as well as I do that just because you put a conjunction (and) between two phrases does not automatically equate them.
I agreed with the first, but not the second.
Nice try, though.
Have you got a bill yet, I haven’t. I think you’re just letting yourself be jerked around by the anti-family left. Sorry you’re not smart enough to figure that out yet.
Maybe we could get a B-2 bomber to do a flyover and do our part in the 'clean up'.
Like I said on another thread where it was posted this family was poor.
Good times...." "When I was growing up we were so poor we didn't have a soft serve ice cream machine on our family sailing yacht like the other families in our neighborhood. but we got by.
Chill.
I don't have a TV. Not for years.
So why shouldnt her parents partake in the same venue to attempt to financially provide for themselves?
What? You think reality shows are a good thing?! Not really, right?
Now, I would not watch a reality show about a family with daredevil children
Then why would you say So why shouldnt her parents partake in the same venue to attempt to financially provide for themselves? This is one of the things that's wrong with society. Everybody wants to be famous, on TV, You Tube, My Space, Facebook....
Her folks, I would have to let God judge them, as Im not perfect.
We can judge others actions. What only God can do is condemn. Don't get caught up in humanism otherwise you'll be agreeing that you have no right to say a murderer is wrong and a rescuer is right.
That poor little girl. That was dysfunctional!

I also read that she had to leave everything behind.
Perhaps they will eventually recover the sailboat.
It was a whole statement. And you are prone to paring them to say something else.
Travis McGee, who sails, says it will drift and possibly wash up somewhere.
'Safe' can mean different things to different people.
Yes. Like I said, it's a matter of opinion. However we have freepers who sail and they have been very informative.
Probably, but rarely for very long.
Probably, but rarely for very long.
You know, a poster last week tried saying that people were critical out of envy. I asked if Freepers criticize liberals because of envy or because they disagree. Naturally I received no response.
That is what they reported.
It stated 30' waves and 60 knot winds.
What I would call a ****load of rogue waves.
: )
It can be a real life-saver.
: )
I’m waiting for somebody to get to the bottom of the life insurance policy.
A fair question.
My guess is that everyone on here would insist the parents be arrested, hung, and then jailed.
Because hindsight is always 20/20.
And how does that apply to this case? Sailing from the UK to Cape Town, within sight of land the whole way is different from sailing from Cape Town to Fremantle.
