Seattle police are to review training procedures after video of an officer punching a teenage girl circulated widely on US television and online.
The officer, Ian Walsh, has been transferred temporarily to the department's training unit, Seattle police said.
Police officials said the review of training procedures was not meant as a criticism of the officer's actions but would examine whether training could be improved.

How could an adult, ostensibly trained, male police officer NOT put the raging, emotional, teenage female, beast though she was, OUT with such a punch to the face?
You are so wrong it's almost funny. The girl in black was the one who jaywalked. She did not get punched. He punched the girl in pink for shoving him while he was attempting to arrest the girl in black. If the girls had behaved like civilized normal people no one would have been punched or even arrested. I am completely against police abuse of authority, but this is not such a case.
There was no mist.
I hope he will be administering the training. What he did was just right. Confronted with two violent thugs,he used appropriate force. Just what we expect him to do.
No? Then explain why the police officer didn't get “his ass whipped by the two heifers” and instead the two girls were arrested?
You say “If anything he should of taken control of the situation.”
Seems to me that's exactly what he did.
“Yah, punch girls for jaywalking. That will go over well”
The female thug, that you want to call a girl, was not punched for jay walking. She was punched for her thug behavior in physically interfering with a policemen doing his duty. He had every justification for what he did.
We don’t need anymore jackbooted thugs punching females. If this were the 70’s/80’s he would be looking for a job!Enough of civil servants not being questioned in this country over force issues.I’m tired of law enforcement getting free rein over the public and walking/laughing.If you like this kind of behavior you may be NEXT to deal with these THUGS.I see this all over America and the whimps agree with this thug/caveman behavior.

2 thugs don’t make it right does it?It goes to prove that law officers have become thugs/caveman for even a petty offense such as jaywalking “tell a Newyorker that”.I’m tired of seeing people put up with this BS in Amerika. If he did this to your wife or daughter you may have a different view.I’d say the cop is a hothead/loose cannon that needs to be fired for losing his cool as a public servant. The people don’t need hotheads in the the public domain with an ax to grind for petty offenses who mau have had a bad hair day.
This is a terrible case for the cause of police reform. The “girl” roared up to the whitey cop like a ghetto race thug and attacked him. He punched her in the chops and arrested her. That was better than the usual operation of tazing her or shooting her.
Giving people tickets for jay walking...now that would be something to question. Punching a thug in the mouth during an attack...that was necessiary and sensible.
>>3 German Shepherds, huh? Remind me not to do a frontal assualt on your home anytime soon.<<
Anyone dumb enough to try breaking into my house would have to deal with not only my furry protectors, but Mr. Ruger, too :-)
Yep.
Short-barrel shotgun, and you are pretty much all set.
Although, with three of those stalwart bravehearts attacking at once, you may never have to even raise your gun. LOL.

I’ve got an Iowa version of the ancestral home in Italy (without the mastiffs & patrolling goombas). LOL - my dad would be proud
