E-mail from Barrett’s advisor (and co-chair): Is Nikki Haley lying about her faith?
Hot Air ^ | 6-19-10 | Hot Air Staff

Posted on 06/19/2010 8:34:15 AM PDT by TitansAFC

Pickens County GOP Chair Phillip Bowers — a co-chairman of the rival Gresham Barrett campaign — says that Haley, a Christian who was born to Sikh immigrants, “can’t seem to make up her mind about her faith.”…

“It’s not my place to question her faith, but I do question her honesty,” the county party chairman writes. “If anyone finds the truth, please let me know.”

“Again, I’m not questioning her faith,” he repeats, “but I absolutely can’t stand a liar.”

This reminds me of black liberals trying to discredit black conservatives by saying “they’re not black enough”.

Personally, everyone on this attempt to smear Haley with this tactic is on my shat list for life.

"The reason he said this was because Huckabee is trying to get Barrett the nomination, and this kind of religious "strategy" is a trademark of Mike Huckabee’s (See the last Presidential campaign)."

I did not realize Huckabee was supporting Barrett in the run-off. Huckabee endorsed and recorded commercials for Andre Bauer in the primary.

We can all laugh all we want, but this kind of insidious whisper campaign makes a difference in the vote count at the end. I know that it is going around the Baptist churches because I heard it first from my son and daughter in law. And then they followed up with some emailed conservative “ratings” that made no sense whatsoever. There is some vote on a double negative Bill that according to the Barrett campaign dropped her pro-life rating to 50% while Gresham Barrett holds 100%. ???

But the question is, where are they getting these votes? Nikki Haley, herself, is campaigning on making the SC legislature votes open, honest, and recorded. Now most everyting is passed, or defeated, on a voice vote, so there is no record about who voted for what. The “life” vote was on a question so convoluted with double negatives that I cannot tell if her vote is pro, or anti, life. You can read it both ways. So, I don’t think it should count in a “rating”.

I also know from my husband’s time on a local Plan Commission in Wisconsin that some people are irrationally afraid of Sikhs. All kinds of ridiculous rumors circulate about them.

I can tell you right here that if I could vote in SC, I would vote for Nikki Haley. She’s a breath of fresh air. I wish I could persuade my son and DIL of that.

The article at Hot Air & links found there are all just campaign ads for someone else.

Leave her religion alone. As long as she isn't Mooslim I don't care. (because Mooslims are either murdering barbarians or lousy Mooslims, which means the real Mooslims don't consider them Mooslims, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! (sorry I just watched Alice in Wonderland last night)

Both Bauer and Huckabee are currently working to get Gresham the nomination, and have been since Bauer was eliminated.

Huh? Huckabee is from Arkansas. Huckabee lost the 2008 South Carolina GOP Presidential primary to McCain.

Hucka-Bee's bubba-bud, Bauer is now supporting bailout Barrett who is now using the same boob-baiting tactics.

Go figure.

Msot Americans - who have never even met a Sikh - are clueless and assume they are “some kind of Muslim”.

A closer look shows they (ardent adherants) practice

Simran and Sewa: These are the Foundation of Sikhism. It is the duty of every Sikh to practice Naam Simran daily and engage in Seva whenever there is a possibility- in Gurdwara; in community centre; old people’s homes; care centres; major world disasters, etc.
The Holy trinity of Sikhism: Guru Nanak formalised these three important aspects of Sikhism:
Naam Japna: – A Sikh is to engage in a daily practice of meditation and Nitnem by reciting and chanting of God’s Name.
Kirat Karni: - To live honestly and earn by ones physical and mental effort while accepting God’s gifts and blessings. A Sikh has to live as a householder carrying out his or her duties and responsibilities to the full.
Vand Chakna: - The Sikhs are asked to share their wealth within the community and outside by giving Dasvand and practising charity (Daan). To “Share and consume together”.
(See the wiki for more)

Rather have a bunch of Sikhs in the neighborhood than the usual riff-raff being brought into the US by NGOs.

“And now ask we why I LEFT the Republican Party...”

OK I’ll bite....Why did you leave the Republican Party?

Maybe you felt powerless to fight for the soul of your party, so you marginalized yourself to chase 3rd party, often single issue, politicians?

In leaving the Republican Party did you leave a void that allows guys like Barrett and Bauer to flourish uncontested?

My old gunny once told me that you don’t win the war by running off the battlefield in the face of adversity. Your thoughts on his observation?

Maybe you just like being in the cat-bird’s seat?

Tell me truely why did you leave the Republican Party?

I don’t really care what faith my political leaders are (as long as it’s not Muslim).

Maybe you should care? The founding Fathers certainly did.

A lot of attacks being posted against Haley today on FR. This one, one about a $42,000 campaign donation, it seems that she is under fire.

WHat is wrong with the GOP in South Carolina?

It's messed up everywhere. Worthless. I support individual candidates, not a party.

Do you contribute to Lindsey Graham ? If so it tells me what you believe. People supporting The RNC have a portion of that money go to Graham. I turned in my resignation to my local republican group (I was on exec com.) when Graham (a RINO) beat Witherspoon (a Conservative) in the primary. I will not support libs. I hope you don’t. To make sure, send your ‘left over’ dollars to DeMint’s conservative fund. You aren’t going to get your party ‘back’ by supporting their left-tilted candidates. But maybe that’s what you want? ... Your choice, I’ve made mine.
