When I was in public school (Tennessee), 1950 to 1962, the pledge was said in home room every morning.
That was when America was the grand old USA.
Now it is the USSA.

Arlington is almost as moonbat as Cambridge.

Having 3 members support the pledge was a shock.

Where is Joe McCarthy when we really need him? Anyone who votes against saying the Pledge of Allegiance is a communist and has NO PLACE serving in any government in the USA.

Stand and pledge anyway.

When the board calls it ‘school disruption’,respond that you are taking a page from Bill Ayers playbook and practicing ‘political dissent’.

Turn the tables on the left and they get real agitated.

I'm a substitute teacher in our public schools. The Pledge is recited each day, along with a moment of silence. One middle school principal also includes her 'Thought for the Day', which is many times Judeo/Christian based! Mostly I sub in Special Ed rooms... the kids able to recite the Pledge are so proud to do so. Very touching.

Too bad this doesn't happen in every school, every day.

at the risk of being flamed...

mandatory reciting of a pledge or oath means nothing.

make the country worth living in and the oathes of allegiance will come.

as a man of principles, and of my word, shouldn’t i only have to say a pledge once.

educate not indoctrinate, that goes both ways.

I don’t understand this. No one is stopping any student who wants to, from reciting the pledge whenever they want including in the morning before classes.

I grew up in Arlington and went to the public schools there.
(1963-1976)
I can remember reciting the pledge of allegiance in elementary
school, hand over heart, facing the flag.
Arlington was a nice middle class town with strong values.
It started to change in the 1970’s when young progressives
started moving in.

"There is even a Massachusetts law making daily recitation of the pledge mandatory, but that law is routinely ignored because it contradicts federal court decisions that say compelling someone to say the Pledge of Allegiance violates freedom of speech."

So what? It's not like you HAVE to stand up and recite it even if it's being said around you! Freedom OF Speech - not Freedom FROM Speech... It's just like prayers -- Freedom OF Religion, not Freedom FROM Religion.

It's no wonder people in this country don't understand how our government works, or what's going on. There is no more emphasis on respecting past generations, and the price they've paid for our Freedoms... The only push as far as our government in the schools is concerned, is the overwhelming number of teachers who are indoctrinating today's students against the US of old (Capitalism, Freedom), and against so-called "US Imperialism", and "Rights Violations".

We're doomed to repeat the worst parts of history because these children will not respect our country, or have an understanding of how lucky we as a nation have been up until now. I guess a lot of these younger kids are going to get a very rude wake-up call. But, will they know how to answer it when it comes??? That's what I REALLY worry about!

I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness. We weren’t allowed to say the pledge but we were taught to stand out of respect. I don’t see why that little bit of common sense could not be applied to the town of Arlington (other than that there is a common sense shortage in Massachusetts).

A forced pledge means about as much as a coerced confession.

DO THIS: Organize the parents - secretly - and have a student walkout. Keeping this secret is of the utmost importance. If the school gets wind of your plans .. it will defeat the plan.

For every student who doesn’t show up at the school - THE GOVT WILL NOT PAY THE SCHOOL FED DOLLARS. Everything is based on the number of students.

While you’re organizing the parents - prepare for home schooling. Some parents will not be able to stop working, but those parents who are regularly home can be organized to teach a few children in each of their homes, and it’s a good time to teach them the difference between Liberty and Tyranny.

This method was tried in an Oregon city - and it scared the fire out of the school - and it only took a few days of no students (I believe) before THE SCHOOL CAVED to the parents wishes. The Oregon families did this perfectly. They had everything all set up and the school was in SHOCK when no students showed up.

Plus, tipping off the press only on the first morning of the protest also helps. There are the students and parents with their signs telling the story of how this school will not allow the students to recite the pledge. Powerful!

MONEY TALKS - USE IT!!
