What isn't wrong with Sharia law? (Is the left getting worried?)

The recent global day against the imminent stoning of Sakine Mohammadi-Ashtiani in Iran for adultery is an example of the outrage sparked by the brutality associated with sharia law's penal code.

What of its civil code though – which the Muslim Council of Britain's Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra describes as "small aspects" that concern "marriage, divorce, inheritance, custody of children"? According to human rights campaigner Gita Sahgal, "there is active support for sharia laws precisely because it is limited to denying women rights in the family. No hands are being cut off, so there can't be a problem …"

Now a report, Sharia Law in Britain: A Threat to One Law for All and Equal Rights, reveals the adverse effect of sharia courts on family law. Under sharia's civil code, a woman's testimony is worth half of a man's. A man can divorce his wife by repudiation, whereas a woman must give justifications, some of which are difficult to prove. Child custody reverts to the father at a preset age; women who remarry lose custody of their children even before then; and sons inherit twice the share of daughters.

And I’m not a second hand citizen here in the US because I’m a man? Look what would happen to me if my wife decided to divorce me or some random girl decided to accuse me of sexual assault? Think I’d be treated fairly in family court or criminal court. Look at the Duke lacrosse players, if they did not have parents that were filthy rich they’d all be sitting in jail for the next 30 years right now.

If I wasn’t a Christian I’d probably be tempted to convert to Islam and move over to one of the Muslim countries as it would probably offer more opportunity than you’ll see here in the US going forward as well as more stability as far as a home life than you’re likely to find here in the US.

You’re out of your mind. With your love for Sharia law, I wish you would go live under it and find out what it’s like.

Unless you’re lying and you really are a Muslim. Hard to imagine anyone as ignorant as you, to really think that life would be better for anyone who is not a demoniac person under Islam Sharia law.

I have no time or wish to detail why Islamic law is hateful, demoniac, repressive for everyone, and a danger for the entire planet.

Try to brush up on your reading comprehension a little, I said that if I WASN’T a Christian I’d be tempted to convert to Islam and move to a Muslim country. You can spout all the hateful, demoniac, repressive BS that you want but Sharia law is no more unjust than the distorted humanistic/socialist/feminist inspired BS we have here in the US. And I would argue (which is what I’ve said in previous posts) that in some ways it is superior to western laws as evidenced by the fact that on the whole Muslim countries have in tact families versus the rapidly disintegrating western family structure.

Sharia law keeps “families intact - which can include up to four wives (at any given time, and they can be divorced with no sweat at all), who live under ultimate repression which is virtual imprisonment. Yes, so if women are chattel and basically imprisoned, then I guess you could say such “families” are “intact”.

I agree there is much wrong with the “distorted humanistic/socialist/feminist inspired BS” in the US and other countries. But at least men are not killed for showing their ankles (or looking at an ankle). Etc.

You’re certainly are distorting things a bit. Yes women are basically chattel but so what? What’s that to me? If you look at the span of human history that’s the way it’s been since civilization began up until around the mid-1800’s (even, gasp! in the west! maybe you should start a reparations movement for black slaves AND all women!) It’s worked up to this point and guess what, once women were “liberated” all hell has broken loose and families are disintegrating which WILL cause our civilization to break down into chaos sooner or later. And no, in most Muslin countries women are not virtually imprisoned (unlike the US where over 2 million men are literally imprisoned), for example Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, and several others are quite liberal in the freedoms that they allow women. Don’t use the Taliban or Saudi Arabia as your yard stick since those are outliers.

As far as the other things you’re the nut if you think any women has had her head chopped off for showing an ankle (may be beat up a bit or caned if you lived around the Taliban). Most places are not that extreme that they require women to go around in a burka (or whatever that head to toe thing is called).

They have a lot of money and they keep books like a major league baseball team or a movie studio.

I predict there will be a partial collapse and by that I mean a political and economic breakdown that will threaten the security of a majority of Americans and the the Arabs, not Muslims, but specifically the Arabs will bail us out. But we will have to give them something in exchange.

Meanwhile we appear to be in a race against time (before our collapse) to create the environment where Arabs are put in direct danger from the Turks and the Persians. Eventually we have the leverage to extract a price for protection from them that would alleviate some of our financial distress. We have sent trillions of dollars over there in exchange for something now occupying the upper atmosphere - fully combusted petrol.

The women are chattel insomuch as they are not liberated through modern forms of birth control. Westerners have lived with female birth control for so long now they just assume that’s the way of the world. It most assuredly is not. The idea of taking on multiple wives was one created out of mercy as a way of caring for women, whom, whether you like it or not, without the benefit of available birth control, are highly vulnerable. So these desert people developed traditions out of the reality of their situation.

They abhor immodesty because they live in an land that pushes up against a savage Africa with it bare breasted women and barbaric ways. So they overcompensate. What are you going to do? Say it has no place in liberal, modern west. You might have a point. I seem to recall Mormons picked up and separated themselves from the general population when they could no longer tolerate the ungodly heathen behavior. But I digress.

I suggest substituting birth control wheels for bombs and start dropping them everywhere over there. That’s the fastest path to their joining us in our self inflicted state of misery.

Birth control doesn’t “liberate” women, it turns them into sex objects that men can use and discard without any responsibility.

Burkas and the like are a natural response to bare breasted Africans? That makes not a pinch of sense. Arabia is in Nigeria? Pushes up against? Have you looked at any maps lately?

A muslim who can abuse his wives at will or divorce them in a minute is caring for unprotected women? What happened to the other men? If every muslim has 4 wives, that means 3 men have no wife.

The solution for Islam is not hedonism. It is giving them the opportunity to leave Islam, which they don’t have, since being born into Islam is a life sentence.
