Obama announces plans to help troubled veterans (Stealth expansion of Obamacare)

President Obama used his weekly address on Saturday to announce plans to make it easier for U.S. military veterans to receive benefits to help with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Even as he highlighted the withdrawal of 90,000 troops from Iraq, Obama noted that the U.S. is still at war, and that many soldiers have served several tours of duty in war zones in the past decade.

MORE spending? MORE? The details of this will allow ANY soldier to demand a LIFETIME of taxpayer money just by, basically, asking for it. It's a DREAM program for the communists. And too many conservatives will go along with it because it "helps the vets." RIGHT. It helps them form a new branch of the DEPENDENT CLASS being created by the Kenyan Usurper and his minions.

Sure, we should help out wounded vets. But nobody should get on-demand access to my money by declaring themselves to be "traumatized." That's nuts.

Obama, his administration, Reid & Pelosi represent the snail $hit that government has become.

it’s hard to fault helping our vets, but you’re right - the excess spending has no limits in Obama’s new world - he can’t spend us into bankruptcy fast enough

Obama uses the military to further his socialism. It will divide them and make them more ineffective for fighting wars. Diabolical.

Politically speaking, he's likely saying this because news was getting out the other day that the tax hike on medical devices was impacting veterans. Thus, he needs to go in and try to put a bandaid on that problem with this new proposal.

I'm an 11 series sandbox vet and I agree with you 100%.

I've yet to take Uncle Sam up on all of the lucrative bennies I could get just by raising my hand. If you have a CIB (which I do) it's essentially a "ticket to ride." Backpay, disability, possible Social Security - the works if you do it right.

So far I've resisted the temptation, but I see a lot vets soaking the system. It's just wrong.

forgive me for being skeptical but I think this is a pr sound bite.

the Vet still has to get the ok from a gov’t pysch doc and I am guessing the ok’s will be as hard to gt as they ever were
BUT it sure makes 0dumbo look good on the surface

Why would Veterans need help? They’re already in a government-run health plan.

What he’ll eventually do is tax the benefit amount they’d receive right along with whatever medical devices they’ll need.

Is this a ploy to give benefits to vets with “mental distress” only to inform them they may never own a gun?

COULD BE! The last thing the Kenyan regime wants to see are a lot of vets who are 1) armed and 2) not dependent on the government!

What he in effect is doing is relaxing the diagnostic criteria for PTSD to a point where anyone can make a claim and it cannot be checked out objectively. It is a boon to those authentic casualties who have had to wait for the butreaucratic gears to grind interminably, but it is also a license to steal.

And it will be abused, make no mistake. It opens the door to every kind of personality disorder in the books. We already are paying large sums in "disability" to vets who were never even in combat, despite best efforts by VA clinicians. This will enable abuses to multiply.

except you still need a VA psych to say you have it. Being in a combat zone will make the first steps easier but does anyone think the VA doc will just rubber stamp it?

I think this is a publicity stunt to make 0dumbo look all caring about the military

No I don’t seen your point.
yes vets get medical care in varying degrees of cost to the vet
but this is not coverage that has easily be given out, rightly so as it is easy to abuse

Vets who were willing to go die for our country and who served in combat zones deserve whatever they TRULY ( not scam) need.
This latest ploy from 0dumbo doesn’t mean a lot

No I don’t seen your point.

I sincerely hope that I have not offended you in any way. My point is that veterans are already enrolled in government-run health care, and by the admission contained in this story, it is painfully obvious that said health care is inadequate. Equally obvious is the desire of this President to subject the entire population to government-run health care. That was the point of my sarcasm. If Vets are going without, then imagine what will be in store for the remainder of the population.

Vets who were willing to go die for our country and who served in combat zones deserve whatever they TRULY ( not scam) need.

I would argue that they deserve even better than that. Military veterans should have health coverage that is superior to that which members of Congress enjoy. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

No No shame on me., I misunderstood your point.
I agree that many who served, especially those who served in combat and those who served 20+ years deserve the finest health care possible.
Actually most do get it, some because the facility they visit has a good leader and the care and respect filter down
and some because they are persistent and demand the care.

Others suffer and it is those who need help.
To the point on PTSD as another vet pointed out many vets abuse the system over and over and it makes it hard for the deserving ones.
OTOH 0dumbo’s great new policy really isn’t great but on paper it sounds good and people who don’t read it will be fooled by 0dumbo.

BTW Clinton made sure the VA system would fail under an overload when he opened it up to every single person who ever served even for 3 years and only stateside BUT he didn’t increase the budget to provide for the Docs and nurses etc to handle the overload.

You are right, 0dumbo is trying to use this as a precursor to universal healthcare
