Mel Gibson's mainstream Hollywood career is over -- for real, this time
L.A Times ^ | July 9th, 2010

It's interesting to try to divine the chicken-and-egg of Mel Gibson's firing by WME last week: Was it his (first-alleged, now aurally proved) misogynistic and racist comments that enabled the agency to part ways with him, or was it the death of longtime agent Ed Limato that did the trick?

Earlier today the news surfaced that William Morris Endeavor had split with Gibson last week-- as Limato lay seriously ill, and just several days after Radar Online broke the news that Gibson had verbally abused his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva by using the N-word. (The reports were just that until today, when audio of the Gibson incident was released on Radar.)

There's of course a third variable in all this -- the fact that Gibson just wasn't much of a bankable star anymore anyway.

I have not had a TV in my home since our first child was born 19 years ago.

So yes, I reject Hollywood.

What part about slavery has been rewritten in our history books?

“Face it, you are alone in your obama support here on FR.”

And how exactly does acknowledging that slavery was evil make one an Obama supporter?

I absolutely agree. ..

Granted, Mel Gibson received a lot of grief for making “The Passion,” however, he has had a long and infamous history of womanizing, drinking too much, and anger management issues, even during the years he was married to his wife, Robyn. And aside from his despicable, anti-Semitic and racial slurs of late, he also appears to be disturbingly hypocritical...

He accuses his girlfriend of dressing provocatively, when she has dressed provocatively throughout her career. Has he not seen some of her photo layouts? He accuses her of being a slut and a whore, when he is the one who has been sleeping around with her for over a year, creating an out-of-wedlock baby, while still legally married.

He also sounds downright scary on that released audio, and I can understand why his girlfriend felt threatened enough to record him.

The man is abhorrent, and he is as “Hollywood” as they come.

You said Rev Wright’s statements were true..

Yes Slavery existed in the USA and it was *Christians* who were instrumental in wanting to end it...

However the African Kings were the ones who sold their own people into slavery....You missed that part.

I’ll be perfectly honest, if Bill Clinton is still an awesome president after sexually harrassing women and lying under oath, I don’t see why Mel Gibson isn’t still an entertaining actor.

Bottom line, he is a professional actor and he does that job well. All the hoopla is because he happens to also stand for things that most of Hollywood hates.

“Yes Slavery existed in the USA and it was *Christians* who were instrumental in wanting to end it...”

So, you mean that there were no Christians in America prior to the Abolitionist Movement?

And if that was the case, what was the religion of all those who help other human beings in slavery in America for all of those years?

So...because the Federal government inappropriately asks citizens their race in the Census, it follows that Gibson is justified in screaming, "You look like a f***ing pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n***ers, it will be your fault."?

It's called "freedom of speech." New Black Panthers use it all the time, though they don't like it when Glen Beck uses it.

So, what do you want to do Mel? Send him to a gulag. Have that gay Muslim Obama kick his ass?

I'm interested in what fascist thing you would like to do to him.

Quakers have been a significant part of the movements to abolish slavery, promote equal rights for women, and end warfare. They have also promoted education and the humane treatment of prisoners and the mentally ill, through the founding or reforming of various institutions.

It’s well and wisely said in Hollywood that, ‘There’s no such thing as bad publicity.’ Gibson will do just fine, thank you.

You see, we people here in Middle America

Now, now. Let's not misrepresent ourselves, let alone presume to speak for a group so clearly a mystery to you.

Where did I say it was?

You liberals are the ones rewriting history. You ALWAYS leave out the part that blacks were always sold by blacks and that muslims keep slaves now. A current history book resembles nothing of the truth of what happened and the way it happened.

You know that.

And prior to the Quakers involvement into the Abolitionist Movement, what was the religion of the slave holders?

Again, simply because when slaves were being imported into America they were first sold to the slave traders by their tribal kings does not absolve the American slave holder for their actions.

If you heard or read what he said to his ex,

What'd she say to him? Recording come into the middle of a fight did it? Who carefully records a fight? Unless the woman is looking for a payday?

I will miss his work.

No you won't. He has contracts for 2 movies.
