Progressives Form 'One Nation' Coalition to Compete With Tea Party
Politics Daily ^ | July 12, 2010 | Christopher Weber

Progressives have launched the left's version of the Tea Party movement.

Dubbed "One Nation," it's a grassroots coalition of 170 liberal and civil rights groups that organizers hope will help the progressive cause regain its voice two years after the election of Barack Obama and "counter the Tea Party narrative," The Washington Post reported.

"Having been confronted with the specter of the Tea Party . . . we felt it urgent to organize the majority of this country, which voted in 2008 and has gone back to the couch," said Benjamin Jealous, president of the NAACP, one of the movement's members. "We've been split off in different directions."

Among the groups involved are the National Council of La Raza, the Service Employees International Union, the NAACP, the AFL-CIO, and the United States Student Association.

As its first major goal, One Nation is planning a march in Washington Oct. 2 that will push for progressive ideals including more government spending on job creation. The march will "demonstrate to Congress that these agenda items have support across multiple demographics," said Jealous (pictured, left, with SEIU Local 1199 President George Gresham).

The coalition came together out of political necessity, Paul Starr, a professor of public affairs at Princeton University, told the Post.

Liberal leaders see "much of the progressive agenda at risk in this election," said Starr, who also edits the American Prospect, a liberal magazine. "There is no choice but for these groups to get together. The historical pattern is that voter turnout falls disproportionately among minorities and young people at these midterm elections, so they are fighting a historical trend."

I think a majority of the people that voted for Obama or 2008 as the article says are not on their couch but are in the Tea Party. many people voted for change and hope and did not know what that meant they do now and they do not like it.

The lovely AFL-CIO...

2000 : (ZACK EXLEY LAUNCHES GWBUSH.COM--- See MOVEON.ORG, AFL-CIO) A computer programmer and Web designer by trade, Exley had gained national attention during the 2000 campaign when he launched GWBush.com, a Web site featuring doctored photographs portraying candidate Bush as a dope fiend. Exley was a hardened activist of the extreme Left. Trained by the AFL-CIO, he had worked as an undercover union organizer for five years, and also done a stint training activists for the Ruckus Society, an anarchist group whose violent tactics first caught the public eye during the 1999 riots against the World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle.[9] Exley brought a ruthless edge to MoveOn’s fundraising and propaganda drives which soon aroused the admiration of mainstream Democrats. ---------- ?"The Shadow Party: Part II," Front Page Magazine.com ^ | October 7, 2004 | David Horowitz and Richard Poe?

My Mercedes only cost me $100, and I’d rather see it in a ditch than with an Obama sticker on it.

There is blood in the water...

They tried their daring "big gavel" walk-thru the TEA party movement to try and "entrap" someone into uttering the dreaded n-word...didn't work.

They've yelled "racist" is dialects from all 57 states.

They've pranced out every "show pony" they have, including the pixie president...but, but, but...

None of their faux racism cries are invoking as much as a wince from the American people.

Why is that, ya reckon?

Probably because it means nothing...America elected a black president, black congress people, black mayors...An America that is racist would not do these things.

I've been a pretty close observer to all this civil rights stuff since it started (in ernest)in the 60's; while there will always be some on both sides that don't like diversification, by and large America has bent over backwards and spent billions to try and fix things for those who consider themselves "oppressed", or "non-liberated".

But, none of that is good enough...and now that the "R-word" has stopped evoking the response they want, they're dipping their big toes into the cold water of domestic terrorism. If they can't "shame" you into giving them their way, then they will "scare" you into giving them their way.

Well, are you scared, America? Are we going to curl up in a little fetal-position ball and be kicked into submission?

Americans have never done that before - for any race or nationality - and it shouldn't start now.

"Sayin' ain't doing, and threatening ain't winning." All mature adults know that if you run from a bully, he will never stop bullying you.

So, bring out the "one nation", or "coffee party" or whatever rag-tag bunch of misfits they can put together - we know it's all for one purpose, to terrorize and intimidate leading up to the election. If they lose the chia pets' free meal might end, and land 'o' goshen we don't want THAT to happen.

We've had "one nation" for over 200 years, it's obama and the progressive regime that is trying to break it apart.

Ask the La Raza people, what they mean by ‘One Nation’. Either they lie, or they’re bad in math.
