Read down into the story you will see reference to the DC to DC charging system for a full charge in 5-15 minutes. Sorry, electric cars are arriving and people will buy them up fast! We are sick of being ripped off by the wildly flucuating prices of gas mostly due to market manipulations. Plus the fact that OUR ENEMIES are benefiting big time from us buying thier oil.

With cap and tax and other energy production killing schemes such as closing down coal production there won’t be any electricity that will be cheap enough for anyone to want to buy an electric car. How do people think electricity is produced? It’s mostly coal and oil fired plants you morons.
Since he is pulling the numbers out of his ass, he could have went ahead and said it will create 100 million jobs.
I am a proponent of electric vehicles. However, we need to stick to facts. A few years ago, they were promising 10 minute recharge times. A couple years ago, 15 minute recharges. This year, 30 minute recharges, and only an 80 percent recharge. That’s in the U.S.A.
That article you referenced is in Asia, for taxis, and burns out the batteries. You think Americans will go for electric cars that burn out their batteries after a few recharges, at $10,000 a battery pack?
Nissan is on the right track. They’re attempting to build infrastructure for electric cars, but are also educating people about the limitations of electric vehicles. Gasoline powered vehicles are going to remain our best option. Gasoline is still our most efficient mobile power supply.
Since BO is going to shut down coal production and oil production for the coal and oil fired generating plants how the hell do you think electricity will be generated to power those fast recharding stations? Maybe we can all attach a hose to our asses and run personal gas-fired generators. Yeah, that’s the answer. I don’t care who buys electric cars but good luck making it work under current conditions.

They really believe that the only reason Big Auto hasn't made an electric car is because either a.) they are in chaoots with Big Oil or b.) the federal government hadn't told them to.

No, there are indeed quick charging capabilities that do not burn out the batteries. There is an electric truck and suv maker in Ontario , Ca. which makes some awesome electric vehicles and the talk about a 30 minute commercial recharger which does not damage the batteries. And when it costs about $2 for a 100 mile charge; how can you seriously say that gas powered cars are our most efficient option? Does that include paying $5 a gallon when the speculators decide to jack up the crude price? There are also other great options in hydrogen tech but we need to get beyond the spin of people like you who are so addicted to gasoline.
I’m not addicted to oil. And I said I’m a proponent of electric vehicles. But they are not ready for prime-time.
It’s simple physics. There is more energy per gallon of gasoline costwise than any other option for vehicles. Electricity for vehicles is not free. It needs to be generated by burning fuel. Combine that with inefficiencies of getting the electricity into a vehicle’s batteries and the cost is far greater than the equivalent cost of gasoline.
Reasons for the high cost of gasoline are due to taxation and political restrictions against extraction here in the U.S.A. If you did proper research instead of mouthing liberal lies, you would find that the government makes far greater profits due to taxes on gas than the oil producers make in taxes.
Hydrogen tech also has inefficiencies at this time, which I won’t get into (I have personally experimented with electrical generation from hydrogen, it is expensive).
Oh, one other thing. You may not realize it, but you are addicted to oil. Did you ever wonder where plastics come from? Many consumables like textiles, electronics, shoes, product packaging, asphalt, fertilizers, medical supplies, rocket-fuels, lubricants etc. are made from oil. Without the oil, no technology as we know it will continue.
You need to stop freebasing the kool aide.
I’m all for alternatives that can stand on their own without taxpayer subsidies.
If anything, the taxpayer subsidies are harming alternatives.
I hear Congress is going to pass a law banning energy conversion losses.
