Spotting a gun out in public can be scary if you have never seen one on a person before. There are more guns out there in the world than many of us realize. If you live in Nevada and pay attention you will see them all the time. Plenty of times I have been in that very same Costco and watched someone lean over to grab something and caught a glimpse of their holster. We can't

Looked to my left and there stood a woman with her jaw dropped. I gave her the biggest sh~t-eating grin and walked past.

Beware. It appears as though now the anti-gun nuts may have more than a good chance to have you executed for CCW.

This reminds me of a shooting in Baton Rouge decades ago on halloween. Two kids in costumes, one a Japanese exchange student, were going to a party and went to the wrong house. They knocked on the door and the wife answered, slammed the door, and told her husband: "get your gun". The man went to the door and shot the Japanese kid, who was dressed as John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.

I always wondered why that woman told her husband to get his gun.

The Costco Employee, it seems to me, planted a similar threat fear in the police, by claiming a man was going crazy, destroying merchandise, and brandishing a gun.

It defiantly feels like a Costco worker freeking to me.

Then the Dummy LEOS went on red alert.

By all accounts this guy was the salt of the earth.
Most CHL types are very easy going.

It is unlikely that this fellow was antagonistic.

Apparently at Costco it's an executable offense.

That, and "raising your voice" to an unreasonable minimum wage Costco drone.

Can you give me a picture of a ‘zippered holster’? Does that mean that no part of the firearm was visible? Just the holster?

I can't remember who said his voice was "elevated". Some witnesses said that it was all very low key.

You know if some guy was brandishing a gun, shoppers would have been running. I'm wondering if that's why Costco evacuated the store....to make it look like shoppers were fleeing. It's not a very nice thought but then this whole incident stinks.

That’s a great idea!
Damn rabbits pop out from trees when you least expect it. Has to better than chasing them with the weed-eater.

Might be a little easier with open carry, though.

Hopefully there will be a video that will clear up the conflicting claims about whether he drew the gun on the cops. Based on what has been reported so far, it sounds unlikely to me that he did but we’ll see. The other thing I have been wondering about is whether, and this is sheer speculation on my part, the cops yelled “drop the gun” when it was still holstered, which is pretty hard to comply with without getting shot.

I also note that the senior cop is one who previously shot and killed an burglary suspect who the cop claimed was trying to run him over (and the cop was later officially cleared of wrongdoing). I have always been unsympathetic to police officers in such shootings because I don’t accept that shooting the driver is an acceptable or reasonable method of avoiding getting run over. It seems more like something could be claimed subjectively, without much ability to disprove it, in almost any circumstance where a cop shoots a suspect behind the wheel.

Lastly, there have to be tons and tons of people carrying weapons in stores all around America every day. I don’t know why seeing a handgun should cause any normal person to flip out. If this goes the way I am guessing it will, I hope the family ends up owning Costco. And Las Vegas to boot.

Multiple eye-witness accounts, most in conflict with the LEO account.

Mutiple threads on this if you haven't seen them.

IMHO I believe they gunned him down for no good reason. Jittery rookie cops supplied with bad intel. Just sad and scary. Here is something someone posted yesterday concerning your response if confronted by LEO, slight editing by me.

Seems to me that there is a magical sequence of words necessary to get through it without getting bruised, tazed, and/or ventillated. "I have a gun legally concealed..." is theoretically liable to get you killed.

"Dear Police person, I understand that your union-protected right to be able to clock out at the end of your shift and go home clearly trumps my right to not bleed out here on the sidewalk.

In that spirit, I am obliged and honored to inform you that my shirt currently conceals a manually-operated gizmo that you may or may not personally approve of despite its legal and constitutional status. I shall not touch it, think of touching it, or think of you thinking that I'm thinking of touching it lest I become an impediment to your above mentioned right to clock out and go home.

Please feel free to restrain me in the most embarrassing and demeaning way possible so you can feel safe, warm, and loved while removing the offending object from my waistband. I simply ask that you kindly be aware of the disposition of your index finger while performing this action as my body currently has a sufficient quantity of orifices. Did I mention that this pavement tastes wonderful and your knee between my shoulder blades feels great? Thank you and please accept my pledge of $50 to the PBA."

That ought to do it...hopefully.

The best thing about CHL is the cops already know your status.

No freekin surprises.

It's been 5 days and they are still saying that they don't know if there's video. You'll never see it.

Also a NV Freeper says they are a very corrupt PD.
