ANALYSIS -- In California, Boxer faces toughest race yet
Fox Business ^ | Aug 2, 2010 | Reuters

Of all the U.S. Senate seats Republicans hope to win from Democrats in November, there may be few they covet more than that of Barbara Boxer, the powerful California liberal facing a bruising battle with businesswoman Carly Fiorina.

But it's not only Republicans who believe that Fiorina, a multimillionaire former Hewlett-Packard CEO, has a chance to knock off Boxer. Political analysts are calling the race a toss-up, and even Boxer's own campaign sees a hard-fought race in the fall.

Voter surveys have found that the outspoken Boxer, a strong supporter of President Barack Obama's agenda and a lightning rod for conservative anger, now has unfavorable ratings of above 50 percent of Californians.

So isn’t half a loaf is better than none? The beginning of any long journey begins with one step after another. Face it, we are saddled with Carly, if she wins, for at least 6 years. Beleive me, I am not thrilled about her winning, but considering the state she is running in, it is understandable. PLus she has been responsible for payrolls.

I honestly beleive she will pal around with McLame and Gomer but given the tide of all the new non establishment candidates elsewhere, even during the next cycle the voters in Kalifornya will start to see things a bit differently. Voting Carly in will give the fruits and nuts something to think about especially when the next cycle can bring a true non establishment conservative to take on Diane.

So do we begin the journey one step at a time or attempt to walk with both legs tied together?

You have some valid points for sure and are right to a certain extent, but I also know from experience that a RINO will stab us in the back many times over and we will be in a worse position for it. I begged people to wake up about Senator Brown but I was criticized like crazy but unfortunately I was correct...trust me for the sake of the United States I would gladly take a “I was wrong about Senator Brown” and he would have been voted against the Obama, but he is voting for his agenda. That is the problem right there for RINOs. If Senator Brown voted against the Obama agenda than having him as a RINO would not be a big deal.

I agree totally with your analysis but at least the leadership roles and the schedules of legislation brought to the floor would be controlled by the Repubics (stolen from Mark Levin). The bottom line right now is not getting involved with any infighting, perceived or not, and laying the groundwork for a true conservative wave to come. The base pour for a concrete block wall looks like hell but it is needed for the wall to stand.

Your mistake may well be that Boxer’s re-election could insure more entitlement programs and entitlement programs are forever. Look worldwide when governments attempt to reduce entitlements riots ensue and governments are thrown out of office. Consider the Social Security mess.

If we can’t get a true conservative, due to geography, unfortunately the next best thing IS a RINO. Reason being, it’s crucial that the Republicans hold on to control of the committees.

That will stop a lot of Obama’s horseshit right in its tracks. Especially important in the House, IMO.

"...in this case I truly believe that Carly will morph into Boxer within one (1) year of Washington, DC corrupting pressure. I have no reason to believe she is anymore principled than B’ch Boxer."

J Edgar, looks like you're catching some flak for telling it like it is. What has also been conveniently overlooked is that IF FioRINO prevails against Boxer, California isn't going to have even a lukewarm conservative in that seat, they are going to have not only a RINO, but a crony of John McCain in that office and you can bet the rent that FioRINO and McStain will be working hand-in-glove to "reach across the aisle" to give all sorts of reach-arounds to their 'Rat buddies as they stab conservatives in the back.

You are correct: if FioRINO defeats Boxer, there will be little difference. It would be gratifying to see that arrogant twat Boxer jettisoned from her seat, but if the replacement is FioRINO, there won't be much reason to celebrate so far as policies and positions are concerned.

Senator Chuck DeVore would have been a reason to celebrate, but Sarah Palin decided instead to suck up to McCain's crony, Carly FioRINO.

Yes I am serious, because the consequence of RINOs is more devastating than Commie attack. RINOs give the enemy cover, and allow their objectives to be accomplished, while blurring the target to retaliate against.

In all seriousness, COMMIE Boxer is preferred over RINO Carly, because the battle lines can be more clearly defined, and then subsequently eliminated!

Your logic is flawed. The battle lines have been drawn clearly enough for years but Boxer has not been eliminated. What, are we cagily waiting for her to die in office of extreme old age?

We could easily fall short of recapturing the Senate this year. I'd hate for Carly's loss to be the thing that prevents the media talking heads from opening their veins on live television.

Ask the folks at Hewlett Packard what they think about Carly's tenure over there...[snicker]

Dream on. Keep whistling past the graveyards of epic failures.
Boxer cannot be defeated by any conservative that would appeal to you. Never. Ever.
She CAN be replaced by someone like Carley, who is THEN vulnerable to being knocked off by a conservative.

A RINO wont be voting for Harry Reid for Majority leader, the most important vote she will take.. If that fact is inconsequential to you, then you really are a fool.

I’m with you on this one. Californians aren’t ready to elect another Reagan right now. Too much liberal brainwashing here. California needs to go purple first before it goes red again.

You support the reelection of the ultra-liberal Democrat Barbara Boxer, bringing her up to her 24th year in the Senate, that is incredible.

Fiorina manage to knock off the front runner Tom Campbell during the primary.

The reason Palin endorsed Fiorina was to stop Tom Campbell, who before the endorsement seemed to be the easy winner of the primary.

Voting started in 6 days and Tom Campbell was well ahead with 35% of the vote, and climbing.

“Campbell supports abortion rights and gay marriage, and argues that Boxer’s greatest asset against either of his two Republican opponents, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, would be the state’s decidedly un-conservative social views.

“She has always been able to move the debate over to the social issues. She will not be able to do that against me,” Campbell told POLITICO.”

“During the campaign for U.S. Senate in 2000, Campbell touted his 100 percent pro-choice voting record. He opposed a ban on “partial birth’ abortions, one of the most horrific abortion practices. (”Conservatives Agonize Backing Campbell,” Roll Call, August 7, 2000.)

Campbell in 1992 made abortion the center stage of his campaign. In the 1992 election, Campbell’s TV ad ran with the following caption: “For choice, for jobs, for U.S. Senate.” In another ad, he said, “I’m pro-choice and one of the most conservative members of Congress when it comes to spending.”In a Republican debate, he described his abortion views, as good for voters “looking for someone who is willing to break with the party line from time to time.” (Gerry Braun, “Herschensohn Won’t Pledge to Back GOP Pick; Senate Opponents Renew Acrimony in Last Debate,” San Diego Union Tribune, June 1, 1992.)

So you would say that rather then moving closer to a goal we should just not move at all ????? You’d never make it in sports or life with that attitude.
