WASHINGTON – Independents who embraced President Barack Obama's call for change in 2008 are ready for a shift again, and that's worrisome news for Democrats.
Only 32 percent of those citing no allegiance to either major party say they want Democrats to keep control of Congress in this November's elections, according to combined results of recent Associated Press-GfK polls. That's way down from the 52 percent of independents who backed Obama over Republican Sen. John McCain two years ago, and the 49 percent to 41 percent edge by which they preferred Democratic candidates for the House in that election, according to exit polls of voters.
Independents voice especially strong concerns about the economy, with 9 in 10 calling it a top problem and no other issue coming close, the analysis of the AP-GfK polls shows. While Democrats and Republicans rank the economy the No. 1 problem in similar numbers, they are nearly as worried about their No. 2 issues, health care for Democrats and terrorism for Republicans.

Now, upcoming in November, 2010 you have the opportunity to totally destroy the Democrat “traitor” Party, and with it, anti-American, Muslim, POTUS Barack Hussein Obama!!!

From what I’ve seen of this poll, they usally lean left. If they are this skewed, the Dems are going to be in a world of hurt come November.

Probably all of the polls inflate Obama's popularity because of the "Bradley effect" (where whites are more likely to say that they are supportive of a black candidate or official than they really are, because they don't want to be seen as a racist by the polltaker).

I concur.
At least we know where those on the Left stand, as it's an ideological struggle, and we can plan accordingly.
But when it comes to dealing with Independents, quite often it boils down to a popularity contest.
He is a such an islmo POS. Destroying the economy. Destroying America.
You know, of course, that the US Treasury/Mint is the font of all their spending? I mean, none of us can afford vacations, or parties, or keeping our homes, but the Osama family seems to be doing just fine on our taxes.
As I was skimming today’s news on FR, a thought hit me that has yet to leave: WHAT IF: The First and Second Daughters refused Shariah, became Christian, and disowned their nasty, lying parents?
I know: A fool’s dream, but still ~ stranger things have happened. I mean, we have a Muslim in the White House, and he’s not even an American!

Before that issue can arise, the Obamas would need to openly embrace Islam and Sharia.
People are extrapolating that they are Muslims at heart while only pretending Christianity - albeit “Black Liberation Theology Christianity”...an oxymoron for sure.
But the Obamas have never indicated the truth of what others are extrapolating about them. Therefore, it is premature to project that their daughters might reject the religion and laws espoused by their parents.
Now, when Michelle my belle and Melia and Sasha start appearing in full Burkas and the whole family prostrates themselves towards Mecca 5 times/day you’ve got your predicate.
