WASHINGTON - Democrats complain they were blindsided when President Obama weighed in on the Ground Zero mosque and handed the GOP a new club to beat them with.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has spent three days on the phone doing damage control with angry Democrats and urging them not to go public against the President, Democratic sources said.
Obama went ahead with the Ramadan dinner remarks even though his top political advisers had not reached a consensus on what he should do. Emanuel was one of the skeptics.

“The call to [muslime] prayer is the most beautiful sound on earth” speaking totus found out the general population was against the mosque and he had to flip flop.
What I fail to understand is why aren’t those many Muslims that played such an important part in the establishment of this Country, speaking more forcefully on his behalf?

But what is frightening is WHERE he made the statement, at a Muslim dinner with a Muslim audience. But the next day, when he's back with the "rest" of the world, he denies what he said the night before. The man was trained as a Muslim, and it is OK to lie if it furthers your cause. It is called Al-Takeyya.
Our "problem" is deeper than whether or not there is a mosque.
Certain that this duplicitous bastard would raise a similar stink over a church or synagogue.
This sounds like a story whose sole purpose is to keep Rahm politically viable.
Guess the answer is that Obama needs to play some more golf, take more vacations and do more closed-to-the-press fundraisers on our dime. BTW - didn’t the MSM tell us he is a brilliant orator????
This should be on billboards all over the country. Then again, I believe those who still support him either already know he’s a muslim or simply don’t think it matters.

Regardless, a gift to the GOP in terms of the upcoming elections. Note that the Republicans are now at their high water mark in Rasmussen's generic congressional ballot: up twelve points.

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”
Or, for once, his veracity:
