LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Dozens of undocumented immigrants were taken into custody Friday morning, and two men were arrested for holding them against their will.

Authorities said 35 immigrants, including a 12-year-old boy, were discovered in a home on La Rica Avenue in Baldwin Park.

Officials arrested the two alleged captors Thursday night. Both men are from Guatemala and were taken into federal custody.

When officials arrived, they found 30 juvenile males and five adult females inside an 800-square-foot home.

Officials said the hostages were being held at the house until family members paid a ransom for their release.

According to authorities, all of the immigrants were smuggled into the country from Mexico and Central America.

How many of those people understand that one of their Emperors sold much of their land to the United States? I believe that California was sold for about $2 Million. They were sold out by their own government.

They were sold out by their own government.

Yes they did and actually it was $15,000,000 and included a lot more then just California. We also sent about 50,000 of our military representatives to Mexico City to help them make their decision.

What a great point. Another one often not brought up,(but related to this subject in another way) is that Africa itself sold it’s own people, the criminals or ones who had gone against society, but who were black, in the millions for purposes of transatlantic slavery.

The Muslims bought and sold slaves as recently as 1950s.

Massachusetts was the first state to legalize slavery.

LOL. Yes exactly!

If memory serves, I believe we originally offered them 25 million for the same land. But later we deducted the travel expenses for the guys that went to close the deal.

"But later we deducted the travel expenses for the guys that went to close the deal."

And then they reimbursed themselves by nationalizing the railroads, mines and oil fields engineered and built by American companies.

You're to kind. Calling them "illegal" implies there's a way to make them legal. They're invaders, and should be treated the same way Pakistanis are when they enter Afghanistan illegally.

"We also sent about 50,000 of our military representatives to Mexico City to help them make their decision."

It's funny how Santa Anna was eagerly brokering a deal to sell the disputed territories and California to the US while he was in power - at about 1/2 the price paid under the terms of Gaudalupe-Hildago.

He came back from exile in Cuba to lead the Mexican Army against the US in the Mexican American war (the man on the white horse, heheh). Our side won, but no-one was really happy about it...

I recall reading that, at the time, many mexicans believed it was actually a clever American plot allowing Santa Anna to return to mexico to help fight against the U.S. during the mexican / American war.
