By Stephen Prothero, Special to CNN In a commentary on the shrill Republican silence in the face of the "Obama is a Muslim" nonsense, Slate’s John Dickerson wrote that "with so much traffic on the low road in American politics, you'd imagine a politician or two might take the high road simply to beat the congestion."
Well, New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg continues to take the road less traveled. And he observed that “there are people of every faith–including, perhaps, some in this room–who are hoping that a compromise will end the debate.” “But it won’t,” he said.

Seriously, though, I think we’re soon going to see a prohibition on criticising or even speaking about Muslims or Islam. It will be called hate speech and this classification will override our First Amendment protections. This is setting the stage for it.

I think Bloomberg’s bloomies are on too tight.....
It is just as absurd to declare that Obama is a lifelong Christian raised by a Unitarian grandmother, agnostic mother, 2 muslim fathers, and enrolled in school in Indonesia as a muslim student where he himself wrote about attending koran class.
His 20 year membership at Jeremiah Wright's hate rallies (Wright is a "former muslim") don't mean anything to me. Has he professed his faith? Seems he's done more to promote his muslim background than to tell others of Jesus.
Seems he's done more to promote America's muslim history than any Judeo-Christian heritage.
Seems he's done more to vacation on Christmas and avoid all church on Sundays than he has to actually BE a Christian.
He quoted how we are all our brother's keeper and thus must fund socialized medicine. His own half-brother lives in a lean-to shack in Kenya. When's Big O gonna help him out?

This is the same Democrat in R clothing who blamed opponents of Obamacare for the Time Square bomb plot and then said we shouldn’t rush to judgement over the motives of the Islamist who planted the bomb.
