EPA Surrenders to NRA on Gun Control Issue
US News & World Report ^ | 27 August 2010 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 08/27/2010 6:26:49 PM PDT by Erik Latranyi

In a swift and unexpected decision, the Environmental Protection Agency today rejected a petition from environmental groups to ban the use of lead in bullets and shotgun shells, claiming it doesn't have jurisdiction to weigh on the controversial Second Amendment issue. The decision came just hours after the Drudge Report posted stories from Washington Whispers and the Weekly Standard about how gun groups were fighting the lead bullet ban.

The EPA had planned to solicit public responses to the petition for two months, but this afternoon issued a statement rejecting a 100-page request from the Center for Biological Diversity, the American Bird Conservancy, and three other groups for a ban on lead bullets, shot, and fishing sinkers. The agency is still considering what to do about sinkers.

They were unable to incite violence, so they cancelled the ban.

WoW this is rare.

Government with an endless money supply gives in. I don't get it.

How biased is this? Ammo is controversial now? did the EPA Cite the influence of the NRA or did they cite the Hazardous materials act which exempts Ammo?

This issue had nothing to do with the environment, it has more to do with the left trying to undermine our 2nd amendment rights.
These envirowackos forget, there is plenty of natural lead in the ground that is there naturally, and is in far more quantity than that of bullets.

Pure politics. This issue was going to hurt Comrade Barky very badly and odds are good he told Lisa Jackson and the EPA dolts to pull the plug on this, pronto.

Nice of US News to admit that banning lead projectiles is about gun control.

Ban the EPA!

No kidding, their ability to make law usurps Congressional authority and they should be eliminated as Unconstitutional.

I believe Zero saw that he was going to be in deep crap over this one. I discussed this with our state NRA Field Representstive today. He told me the NRA was planning a massive P-R campaign on this issue. The GOP can learn a lot from the NRA.

Good thing many of us stocked up on new firearms, ammunition, and related gear (or, were already well-equipped).

THEY are afraid of us, and RIGHTLY so.

Though the anti-American left (progressives, liberals, socialists, communists, etc.) have raped and pillaged our freedoms and treasure, it would be infinitely worse IF we were not armed and had our 2nd Amendment rights (our founders were very wise men).

They, the far-left scum now running our country, KNOW that it was when the Brits tried to seize our weapons and ammunition, THAT is what sparked full-fledged armed resistance.

MILLIONS of us a ready and willing to stand up for freedom against a tyrannical government if need be.

Hopefully, this will not be necessary, but let it be known that we citizens are keeping our powder dry.
