The Success of the Beck Rally
American Spectator ^ | 8-31-2010 | Jeffrey Lord

Posted on 08/31/2010 6:59:43 AM PDT by MarkLevinFan

I love watching Glenn Beck on TV.

Day winding down, he makes so many good points. As someone who has spent a lifetime studying history, been there in government and politics, I find it great to watch Beck’s particular insistence on educating Americans about real history that has gone missing. Having long ago learned first hand the progressive-race connection, for example, by having lived for a couple years in Woodrow Wilson’s hometown, I am stunned to see someone have the wit and the chops to detail this particularly disturbing history of America’s “progressive” president on popular television.

Bravo.

So I watched the rally on C-SPAN.

And you know what? (He says gently…)

I was elated — and concerned.

Did you listen to Michael Savage last night? Savage, who has referred to Beck as the "talking hemorrhoid" in the past was highly complimentary about what Glenn Beck had accomplished.

Savage was my favorite of all the talk show hosts before (despite occasional "off his meds" rants), but I respect him even more now.

The conservative movement needs this type of unity to succeed, not petty two-bit personality rivalries.

Beck and Hannity are scrapping for the same audience, white women who want to feel good about themselves, so of course there is a bit of rivalry. Beck is winning that contest, Sean still leading with lonely Long Island houswives though.

I have hear Beck mention Mark book a few times..

Beck has been accused of by Mark for plagiarizing Rush Thanksgiving story or Mark stuff when all that Beck has learn came from Cleon Skousen who wrote his stuff in the 1980’s.

I like Mark but I also have a hard time when he shows that weakness in him of pride it is not of the Lord it comes from the world there is abundance for all in the Lord’s kingdom if Mark would only see that he has so many wonder ways about him!

After all it is very clear there was the 3 Musketeers (Levin Hannity Rush)and no room that there might be a magnificent 7, 8 or 9 etc.

Levin and Hannity treated it like a click not good to let pride get in the way or have hurt feeling that someone is # 3 when that was supposed to be you place or #2 when it seem Beck is catching up to Hannity etc.

In our own world in life we had those dreams deflated when similar things happen but did we not choose to be in a competitive position?

Rush has always been very gracious!

There is no reason people can’t listen to both. They have separate time slots. At one time, I found Hannity to be more educational and Beck to be more entertaining. But now, I’d have to say that has reversed or, at least, Beck has become more serious and educational lately.

Actually, Glenn has opined (and I agree with the take) that McCain would have been worse because we would have all this crud and thensome provided by a GOP president, supposedly from the right -- the enormous TEA party frustrations/movement, these counter-protests, etc., would not be occurring (yet), too many would be in the *We gotta support our guy* section.

but his treatment of Teddy and to a lesser degree Taft is weird

weird? TR was a progressive. Beck rails against all progressives and more and more I agree with him. McCain is a self-professed TR Republican and he IS a progressive, too... I think it would be best to call a spade a spade and you are either a conservative or a progressive and forget the D and R stuff. You never miss an opportunity to bash Beck, BTW....

McCain would have signed McCaincare, and it would not have taken as long or had near the scrutiny paid it by many Americans that the fruad that did pass got.

I’m not surprised at the baloney from *the usual suspects*, (lamestream, race-bait crowd, 0bama’s minions), but from people who claim tolerance and open-mindedness there is an incredible amount of vitriol being levied, not to mention what you note, the hyper-volume of opinion that doesn’t jibe with Saturday whatever.

***

In a way yes because we might not have been able to put our finger on it fast enough where as Obama it was so strong how could one miss the Progressive program!

Do I think McCain is just as diabolical not intentionally just blind!

When Mark Levin's book, Liberty & Tyranny, was at the top of the NY Times best seller's list for many weeks, how often did Beck mention it? Draw whatever conclusion you care to from that. _____________________________________

You are a disgruntled fan I guess. They have totally different messages, but if you think they don't wish the same outcome in our country then you will remain unhappy.

If mark wants to raise a crowd and give his message I certainly will listen, I have over 2 years of levin's radio shows archived on my computer. I also have more of Rush than that, because I fear they may disappear in my lifetime. I am doing my part to preserve history.

David Barton may well be the greatest authority of early American history, like it or not.

No problem, I enjoy listening/watching to both! Hay, we are all in this fight together!

After watching Glenn’s Rally on the PC Saturday, I have been inspired to “pay it forward”.
