If you thought media coverage of the Aug. 28 "Restoring Honor" rally hosted in Washington D.C. by Fox News host Glenn Beck seemed like just another attack on conservatives, you're not alone. As noted by the Daily Caller's Jim Treacher, much of the coverage had a common thread: describing the crowd as "overwhelmingly white."

It was just a blurb on FOX (I think) last night. They didn’t make much of it..... very short.... THe interview lots of people and I didn’t see any two twice.

But I did verbally yell out “Praise GOd” before it ended.

Overwhelmingly? I guess those same sources would say the USA is "overwhelming white." And they would be correct. I wonder how many of these people "realize" the percentage of blacks in the entire population? It's 12.9%. So if you look out over that crowd, or out over this country, why wouldn't it be OVERWHELMINGLY White? Fact, there are a hell of a lot more whites than blacks. So if you take a cross section, you get what you get.

It's a lot easier to dismiss something because of skin color than to actually examine the ideas of a group of people.

Of course if they were intellectually honest, they might have to change some of their ill-conceived ideas.

I couldn't resist turning to the Al Sharpton rally where they were ‘overwhelmingly black’ except maybe those Dept Education employees asked to show up there.

Glenn Beck preached independence while Sharpton preached government ‘protection’ and government imposed ‘social justice’. He also said a powerful FEDERAL government is MLKs dream.

So long as at least 51% of the people there were white, they're going to say 'overwhelmingly white'.

Point is: No non-whites were denied access, or treated any different. if you're not white, and you didn't show up, it's your loss - not ours. The reality is the idiot media would be better off not mentioning the rally if it's pissing them off that much (which it is). But they are so stupidly wrong in what they are saying and so quick to pile on that they don't even realize they are giving the whole story legs.

A dream yes, but it would be a nightmare. I think King knew better than just about anyone how oppressive a strong federal government could be. Hover had a special axe to grind when it came to MLK, and I think MLK was aware of it and not particularly a fan of massive federal government.

On the other hand, I think he was in favor of federal intervention to open up schools and the like, so who knows exactly what his vision of the proper size and strength of federal government should be.

As for your Sharpton comments, I think you’re pretty close to the bulls-eye.
