Excellent point! His agency was cought with their pants down looking at porn and taking bribe money to pass inspections supposedly.

Apparently Obama’s REVIEW order was moot.

But Obama won’t see it this way. He will use it because he lost in court.

Why does it feel like Obama is suing America and we are losing?

The few women I met in the industry could definitely hold their own in a cussing contest. Without the F-word, the O&G industry would shut down! (It is the most versatile word in the English language)

No way two rigs explode within months like this. Who the hell’s doing this?

Just because your are ignorate of history doesn't mean the rest of us are. Perhaps you should reconsider blowing off the opinions of those who actually work in the industry and have a clue.

The man thought he could just waltz through and schmooze the muddled middle, knowing the alert right couldn't matter enough.

He's a community organizer. He's used to unlimited funds and people who agree with him. He's never had to be concerned about budgets or disagreements (or going to work early). That's why he's screwing up so badly. He thought everyone would simply agree with him and the presidency would be a cake walk. That's all he's ever known.

That I do not know. When my guys get back from lunch, I’ll ask if they know how to find that out. Good question!

BTTT and worth understanding for all those who missed these same discussions and information a few months ago when we went through this before.

Found some older stats for fire / explosions.

1996: 93
1997: 135
1998: 93
1999: 80
2000: 105
2001: 91
2002: 96
2003: 110
2004: 76
2005: 84

And another list:

On the Cover: The Vermilion 398 “A” Platform was set in 377 feet of water, offshore Louisiana, in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 190 miles southwest of New Orleans. When the development drilling and completion program commenced in 1996 is finished, net daily production is expected to exceed 18,000 Mcfe. The cover photograph was taken by Jack Burman, a Newfield production engineer.

All production, reserve and dollar figures in the text of this report are net to Newfield Exploration Company unless otherwise stated. “

Thank you for sharing your research.
Does there seem to be any sort of pattern to these numbers? Did the higher years correspond to more gov. ‘interference’, or did lower years correspond to great regulations?

Just because your are ignorate of history doesn't mean the rest of us are.

I'd recommend using spell check the next time you call somebody ignorant, sparky. And my post graduate work in history excuses me from unfounded claims of being 'ignorate'.

The block in question is Vermilion 380, not 398. Newfield isn’t involved in 380.

398, I suspect, is Mariner’s internal designation for the VR 380 platform.

Good news that no one was killed.

Does this mean Our Dear Leader has yet another opportunity to bash our society and its usage of fossil fuels?

History degree =/= drilling experience.

(I’m just an English major, and I can do simple math.)
