The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 24% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-seven percent (47%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -23 (see trends).

What does “overall approval” mean? Ras has him at 42%. Past polls mean less then nothing. Looking at old polls is like looking at last weeks ball scores to see how your team is doing.

Yes, I'm pretty sure this is a record Abyss Index low: the total of Strongly Approve (24%) and Somewhat Approve (18%) minus Strongly Disapprove (47%) = -5%.
I'm quite sure Steely Dan wasn't talking about a conservative election sweep in "Change of the Guard" (1972), but the words fit:

You are adding a strongly approve number to a somewhat approve number to get a total approval but you are only using the strongly disapprove number to show the 5% difference. Where is the somewhat disapprove to go along with the strongly disapprove?

But please don’t get cocky. Obama has some October surprises coming. My guess is they consist primarily of trying to buy votes with our tax money; but whatever they are, they are coming.
Work hard. Volunteer for someone. Be sure Republican friends and family get to the polls. And contribute, contribute, contribute as if the future of the Republic and your kids and grandkids depended on it. Because it does.
You can contribute a few dollars. Just find something to give up. I know I can always give up a few calories. Beans-and-cornbread nights for Angle (or whomever).

The sad thing here is that nearly 1 in 4 americans hasn’t a clue about what a precious thing they are seeking to throw away!
Maybe things would be a little different today if America still had a mandatory draft. So many people are just sooooooooooooo clueless - some of the blame must go to the US Education system (propagandists only) and also to our blathering media who have lost the ability to tell the truth and not leave convenient facts out of their reporting.
