WASHINGTON - The Democratic left still smarts over President Obama's failure to deliver on some of its key issues, but has made no serious move to challenge him in 2012.
Even the loudest critics among them think putting up a primary candidate would just split the party and strengthen the Republican who runs against him or her.
"There is beginning to be some chatter about running a candidate from the left, but nobody wants to think that way," said Peter Daou, a liberal blogger and ex-digital media adviser to Hillary Clinton's campaign.
The left's grievance list is long. They believe Obama is infatuated with centrist, independent voters at the expense of the liberal agenda. Many want U.S. forces out of Afghanistan.
Still, there's no groundswell for a Howard Dean-like Democrat to rise up and challenge Obama.
"I certainly wouldn't advocate that. I'd rather the White House right this ship," Daou said.
UCLA pollster Lynn Vavreck doubts the left will rebel because ultimately liberals "want to win elections," while dissident GOP Tea Party activists "care more about making a point."
Liberals still fume over what they consider a lame attempt by Obama to win approval of a government health care plan known as the public option.

Unless the Republican candidate says openly and often “ here are all my college records, birth certificate, passport records” and so on and challenges him to open his background too, then the records and bc will not be an issue. The Republican challenger has to make it so.

Even if the challenger makes an issue of even Obama’s college records the MSM will AGAIN cover for Obama and post pictures of him with a halo around his head.

Just a guess, but I'd say he's going to claim there is too much racism in the country for there to be a black president.

If Hillary resigns as SOS, Obama will announce he’s not running again.
Somehow, I wouldn't be surprised if this happens. That's assuming, of course, that they decide Obama is still electable.
If this is so, they might run a far-left candidate against Obama, who would be thoroughly crushed. Purpose? Three reasons:
1) It will intimidate and paralyze the far left wing, and heal the rift that already exists within the party.
2)Having a far left opponent allows Obama to position himself towards the center, a favorite tactic with Dems seeking reelection.
The inevitability factor - something Obama has definitely lost. With a convincing win early, BO's confidence (and that of his voters) increase. The inevitability drumbeat from the MSM begins, and he can roll on to his (inevitable) victory.

They really do especially with all the “diversity” in our country now. Why isn’t this already required?
How long can the MSM go on looking like fools? Chris Matthews especially. They will cover for him, but what are they going to do when the other American candidates have no problem showing their past but their boy BO can’t seem to do it? Should be fun to watch.

I think it hasn’t been required because it was never an issue in the past. It is now and the requirements need to reflect that, IMHO.
It would take one blue state from the last cycle. A red state wouldn't matter. And the lawyers/courts would likely head them off at the pass if they did get a blue state. He will run again and the 'rats will go nuclear if they have to. They have no problem operating in slimeball mode. They figure they win first and worry about the mess later.
The Dems own 0. They have nowhere else to go. If they ditch him the blacks will come unglued. 24 pct strongly support him. Over 1/2 that 24pct. is black.
