The United States government in no way condones such acts of disrespect against the religion of Islam, and is deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups.
The embassy wants to emphasize that we strongly condemn the offensive messages, which are contrary to U.S. government policy and deeply offensive to Muslims especially during the month of Ramadan.
President Obama made clear in Cairo in his speech on June 4, 2009 that he considers it part of his responsibility as President to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they occur. And during his recent Iftar speech at the White House he said: “Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.”
Americans from all religious and ethnic backgrounds reject the offensive initiative by this small group in Florida. A great number of American voices are protesting the hurtful statements made by this organization. Numerous interfaith and religious groups in America are actively working to counter this kind of ignorance and misinformation that is offensive to so many people in the U.S. and around the world.
Just a few days ago, President Obama’s Special Envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain visited Afghanistan, reaching out to political leaders, religious leaders, students and all citizens of Afghanistan, communicating the important message of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Muslim communities all around the world.
They think we are weak and 9/11 is a example of that.
If they think we are weak, we get attacked. If we provoke them with blasphemy, they attack but in greater numbers because there are moderate Muslims. Moderate Muslims usually avoid the crazed radical Muslims. They don't dare speak out for fear of losing their heads.
But if we start burning Korans, despite what I and many think of that hateful religion, those moderate Muslims will join the radicals and present an even greater threat.
I believe in showing strength and attacking much harder than your attackers once you've been attacked. But we don't have the strength to fight the entire Muslim world.

This stage of the infestation in this country by this pestilence it is much too late to play Nice with any of them,There are NO moderates, NO middle ground,if they are Muslim the potential is there at any time a ticking bomb, much better to get it over with!! Anyone who would get violent and kill someone for burning a book (ANY BOOK) is not moderate by anyone's standards. You are simply noting the fact that even "moderate" Muslims are radical muslims simply looking for the right excuse to go postal on Jews and Christians and Hindus and Buddhists and the other Muslims who are really Muslims because they are the same kind of Muslims.
Islam is a Satanic Death Cult. Never forget that. There are no "Moderate" death cult members.
A great many Muslims are trapped by their religion. They don't always like the radicals that control their countries. It's difficult for one to escape Islam and the actions and culture of those more radical around them can't help but dictate some of their beliefs and actions.
The burning of the Koran will make many moderate Muslims angry and convince them that their own way of life may now be threatened.
I think the mind of the less radical Muslims can be changed but Americans burning the Koran will change the leverage the radicals have over them. They will be forced to attack alongside the radicals or to increase their support.
I'd rather we bombed Iran than burn Korans.
We are Americans! We are perfectly capable of doing both.
How many Korans do you think we would burn up if we firebombed Tehran?
If American Christians burn Korans, this war between Islam and the West kicks into hight gear. Of course, the first shot will be fired by the media, with Muslims becoming the new Jew or Negro being hunted by the Koran burning KKK. This will all seep through to the Muslim world.
Muslims in America for now have a choice to denounce Islam.
People leave faiths all the time in America and are never born into a faith or religion, that is what America is all about, freedom of choice.
Their way of life will be threatened if they choose poorly and my bet is Islam will be the hot ticket item for the near future, going against it in its entirety is patriotic at the very least and a sure sign of bravery.
Muslims in America can have a peaceful future, but not as followers of Islam, and I don’t exactly believe a “moderate” Muslim will always stay that way, given enough provocation they will usually revert to the teachings of the Koran.
By having America making a stand against the Koran and effectively putting it on the “most wanted” list of propaganda to be destroyed it should send a message that indeed its truly incompatible with the USA.
You got to know the grievance mongers are going to go down the exact same well-beaten roads they went down before.
If that's all it will take to trigger a war between Islam and the west, then war is inevitable and we might as well get it over with now.

If this Christian church burns these Korans, that book will become a hot commodity among college students.
It will probably be a very effective tool for conversion because the academic left will feel so much sympathy for Muslims because, in their minds, Christian Nazis are burning the holy book of another religion as part of a campaign of oppression and indoctrination.
This action could conceivably embolden and revitalize the left as it has that ravenous need for moral superiority.
It could also force the question of “what do you do with homosexuals?” Liberals ought to be careful what they ask for.

Yeah, you’re right. Maybe they’ll fly planes into our skyscrapers or something. I think the Koran burning is unhelpful, but muslims don’t need a reason to kill Americans (or anyone else for that matter). They do it perfectly fine no matter we do. We are mean, they kill... We are nice, they kill...
It is an important symbolic rejection of Islam and the false deal that is being offered to us by the Muslim world.
The false deal is that if we show deference to Islam, and respect their holy book, they will be slightly less hostile and we might have a little short-term peace.
But the cost is that we have to submit, just a little, to Islam, and we have to tolerate their activities as they set up in our countries and begin their preparations. This gives them the foundation blocks upon which they will build upon as they engineer our destruction. And at every stage, they will offer us a little, temporary peace, if we accept some new, fresh indignity.
I say we nip this thing in the bud. We reject Islam now at every level, and let them howl. We reject their book, and refuse to grant them any respect as they go about their business. If this turns them into howling, shrieking banshees, so much the better, because it will make it clear to the slow-witted amongst us that there is no deal with Islam that does not end with a knife at our throat. If not in this generation, then in a future one.
Islam is not a religion of peace. It never was, and it never will be. It is a movement of conquest that demands submission. It can be no other way.
I say we do not take that first step down into the pit. We reject Islam now by refusing to do the very thing they demand. If they demand we respect their holy book, I say "burn it".
Now, you tell me again what making the first submission to Islam will accomplish?
